Every Adversity

Inspiration below? You been the judge.

God Bless.

Today's Quotation:

Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of a greater or equal benefit.

Napoleon Hill

Today's Meditation:

It is refreshing to know that within each form of adversity, failure, and heartache I encounter, lies the "seed of a greater or equal benefit." It is a perfect reminder that there is good in everything--all we must do is water it, nurture it, and allow that good to grow and flourish in our lives and the world around us.

Adversity, failure, and heartache do not have to be an end result. If we make it so, we miss out on the lessons, opportunities, chances, signs and clues, and many other important elements that are being given to us. Maybe I did not get the job I was interviewing for because I need to increase and expand my knowledge in this specific field. Or perhaps my recent relationship with a girl failed because I did not understand her need for positive reinforcement. If I am able to plant, nurture, and harvest the beneficial seeds found in the difficult and painful lessons of my life, I will bring forth goodness and love as well as unlock my potential for personal growth.

Our failures and obstacles in life are but stepping-stones to becoming something greater along our way. And our greatest achievements in life will assuredly be the result of many failures, heartaches, and adversity that has built us up and reinforced us along the way. But the beauty of failure cannot be seen unless we acknowledge that it is possible for failure to be both beautiful and important.

Today's Challenge: Plant a few beneficial seeds found in some of your failures.

Questions to consider:

How do you view adversity, failure, and heartache in your life? What kinds of things have contributed to this perspective?

Why do we often see failure as something that is exclusively negative?

Do you encourage others to find positive benefits from their failures, and then turn around and fail to see the positive benefits in your own failures?

For further thought:

Don't be afraid to fail. Don't waste energy trying to cover up failure. Learn from your failures and go on to the next challenge. It's ok to fail. If you're not failing, you're not growing.

Adapted from Quiet Times with God

…Whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap.

 Galatians 6:7 (AMP)
The Word of God plainly tells us that we will reap what we sow. This principle applies to every area of our lives, including the way we treat others. Our attitudes and words are seeds we sow each day that determine what kind of fruit or harvest we’ll have in our relationships. The devil loves to keep us busy thinking selfishly, sowing words of strife in our families, and thinking negatively about others. He wants us to sow bad seed.

Let me ask you: What are you sowing today? With God’s help, make the choice to sow love, forgiveness, kindness, and patience in every relationship and situation. You’ll find that as you treat others the way God wants you to, you will reap a life filled with encouraging, godly relationships.

Prayer of the Day: Lord, help me sow seeds of love, kindness, and grace each day. May my words and actions reflect Your heart and lead to healthy, godly relationships in every area of life.

On Me Alone

On Me Alone

I am your Lord, your Supply. You must rely on Me. Trust to the last uttermost limit. Trust and be not afraid. You must depend on Divine Power only. I have not forgotten you. Your help is coming. You shall know and realize My Power.

Endurance is faith tried almost to breaking point. You must wait, and trust, and hope, and joy in Me. You must not depend on man but on Me, on Me, your Strength, your Help, your Supply.

This is the great test. Am I your supply or not? Every great work for Me has had to have this great test-time.Possess your souls in patience and rejoice. You must wait until I show the way. Heaven itself cannot contain more joy than that soul knows, when, after the waiting-test, I crown it Victor, but no disciple of Mine can be victor, who does not wait until I give the order to start. You cannot be anxious if you know that I am your supply.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4

Your Enemy

Something to think about.

God Bless.

Mornings With God

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? - Gal 4:16

Paul didn’t have an easy time with the Galatian Christians. They were inconsistent and hard to deal with. One day they would have done anything for him, the next they were angry at him.

“You welcomed me as if I were an angel… I can testify that if you could have, you would have torn out your eyes and given them to me.” But then he adds, “Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?” They couldn’t handle correction.

Yet Paul remained faithful in his care for them, always seeking to do them good.

This is how we must treat others, too. We should love them not only when they love us, but also when they’re upset with us for being honest. That’s how Christ loves and teaches us—He is always patient and never stops helping us.

The Smallest Act

This...

God Bless.

Today's Quotation:

The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the greatest intention.

Kahlil Gibran

Today's Meditation:

I generally have the best of intentions for others in life, but sometimes fail to act upon them when the need arises. Sometimes I find myself missing opportunities to help others because my focus is elsewhere. Sometimes I find myself too occupied with other things to concern myself with others... even for a short while. Then there are those times when I am aware, but choose to pass the opportunity by. Kahlil is talking about these times.

How many times have I seen someone pulled over on the side of the road and I continued past because I felt I could not afford to spend the time offering assistance? Perhaps I do not possess the knowledge or ability to offer any help that would fix their problem, however, the simple act of me stopping and asking is something that does make a difference. It shows a level of caring, compassion, and concern in my fellow man that goes on to strengthen the beautiful bonds that we all share.

I may intend to help others; I may wish for goodness and happiness in their lives; I may even spend time reflecting about how I can be a better person. But it is through putting my kindness into action, even on the smallest of levels, that I serve to make a difference in the lives of others and lay bare my true potential.

Be aware of the needs of others. Chances are that there are people around you right now that are in need of your help and kindness. Perhaps a door needs opening; maybe a heart needs healing; maybe tears need a shoulder to fall upon; maybe that lonely face simply needs an assuring smile to let them know they matter. If we keep our eyes open and help in the littlest of ways, person by person, we will brighten the entire world around us.

Today's Challenge: Carry out some small acts of kindness throughout the day.

Questions to consider:

How do you tend to feel when someone else offers you help in a sincere, caring way?

How many chances will you have to help someone else today, even in very small ways?

What are some specific ways you might be able to offer help to others?

For further thought:

The more often he feels without acting, the less he will be able ever to act, and, in the long run, the less he will be able to feel.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. (NLT) -1 John 3:1

Did you know that when you accept Jesus into your life you are adopted into the best family? You are given a loving heavenly father that promises to protect and guide you. Don’t forget when life gets hard to lean on your amazing Father God. He loves you and will take care of you.

Practical Benefits

Some thought provoking words written below.

Be encouraged.

God Bless

Are there any practical benefits to following Christ?

Paul lists three in these verses: peace with God, hope in affliction, a love that’s unconditional.

When Jesus said, “Whoever loses their life for me will find it” (Matthew 16:25), he didn’t mean that our lives would become empty when we made the trade. Paul helps us see some of the wonderful blessings that fill our lives when we make that exchange.

Life is full of peaks and valleys. Christ-followers make it through both the good times and the tough times by clinging to promises such as these that God has made.

The Generous Will Prosper

Something not only to think about but somewhat of encouragement written below.

God Bless.

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. (NLT) -Proverbs 11:25

Make a difference today and be generous towards others. One of the best ways to be generous is by giving words of encouragement. Encourage people around you today, and you'll see that you yourself will be refreshed! There's nothing like the feeling you get from bringing a genuine smile to someone's face. Try thoughtfully encouraging and you will receive enrichment from your generous words.

Made to Encourage Others
Joyce Meyer –

An open Bible ready for reading a daily devotional, next to a cup of coffee and vase of roses.
Adapted from The Power of Being Thankful

Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify (strengthen and build up) one another, just as you are doing.

 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (AMPC)
One of the best things you can do for someone is encourage them and build them up. Say something positive to the people around you about who they are or how much you appreciate them. Or tell them how much God loves them and wants to bless them. Encouragement is powerful. It makes people feel better in every way.

I remember one time when I got a text message from my youngest son. All it said was, “I love you, Mommy!” At that moment, I literally felt refreshed by his words. They gave me the extra dose of strength I needed that day.

Think about the people you’re going to be around today. Be thankful that they are in your life and ask God to help you speak encouraging words to them. You might be surprised at what a difference it will make, not only for them, but for you too.

Prayer of the Day: Father, as I am going through my day, I pray that You will show me ways I can encourage and build people up. Thank You for the opportunities You give me to make a difference in the lives of others. I want to seize my opportunities today.

Separate From His Creation

Wanted to offer something to think about.

God Bless.

Separate from His Creation

He stirs up the sea with His power, and by His understanding He breaks up the storm. . . . Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways.
- Job 26:12, 14, NKJV

God Himself is not in a sunset or in an act of human compassion any more than an artist is in his painting or a musician is in his music. You and I may see reflections of the artist’s or musician’s personality in his work, but the person himself is separate from it. Likewise, you may see the reflection of God’s personality in a sunset or in an act of compassion, but He Himself is not in either one. He is separate from His Creation. What an important truth! This means:

When something is wrong, He can right it.

When something is broken, He can mend it.

When something is lost, He can find it.

When something doesn’t work, He can fix it.

When something is hurt, He can heal it.

My failures, sins, mistakes, and shortcomings – and yours – in no way dilute or deplete or weaken or harm God!

Your Love

Thought provoking words below.

God Bless.

“Your love will lead them home.

For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. Luke 19:10, New Living Translation

Let Me work through you to win My creation back to Me. Let Me love them through you. You are the only one they see. You are My hands and you are My feet in the earth. Don't you see it is My will that none perish, but that all will come to know Me and My love. Yes, your spouse. I desire to save him. Your child. I desire to place them on a firm foundation. Your parent. Your old friend. I long to receive them into My arms, but I need you to not criticize them for being lost. My love covers their multitude of sins. Didn't I wash you clean? Do I forgive your wrong? Haven't I blessed you with newness of life? As I've loved you, now you must go and tell those precious lost souls that I'm calling them to come home to Me.

How to Gain Wisdom

Bible open on an entry table ready for reading a daily devotional.
Adapted from Hearing from God Each Morning

If you will turn (repent) and give heed to my reproof, behold, I [Wisdom] will pour out my spirit upon you, I will make my words known to you.

 Proverbs 1:23 (AMPC)
We need to pray and obey God's leading when He speaks to us. Obedience is not to be an occasional event for us; it is to be our way of life. There's a big difference between people who are willing to obey God daily and those who are only willing to obey to get out of trouble. God certainly shows people how to get out of trouble, but He bestows abundant blessings on those who decide to live wholeheartedly for Him and who make obedience to Him their lifestyle. The only pathway to true peace is obedience to God.

Many people obey God in the big issues, but they aren't aware that obedience in the little things makes a difference in His plan for their lives. The Bible says plainly that if we are not faithful in the little things, we will never be made rulers over much (see Luke 16:10). There is no reason for God to trust us with a major responsibility if we are not going to be faithful to do the little things He has asked us to do. I strongly urge you to be obedient to God even in the smallest of things. A sixteenth-century monk called Brother Lawrence was well known for walking continually in the presence of God. He said that He was pleased to pick up a piece of trash from the ground in obedience to God and because He loved Him.

In the verse for today, God says He will make known His words to us if we listen to Him when He corrects us. If we follow His guidance and are pleased to do each little thing He asks of us then He will open His wisdom to us, and we will have more revelation than we could ever imagine.

Prayer of the Day: Lord, help me obey Your voice daily, in both big and small things. Cause my life to reflect a heart that seeks to please You in every action and decision.

The World’s Song

The World’s Song

Bless us, O Lord, we beseech Thee and show us the way in which Thou wouldst have us walk.

Walk with Me in the way of Peace. Shed Peace, not discord, wherever you go. But it must be My Peace.

Never a Peace that is a truce with the power of evil. Never harmony if that means your life-music being adapted to the mood and music of the world. My disciples so often make the mistake of thinking all must be harmonious. No! Not when it means singing the song of the world.

I, the Prince of Peace, said that I came “not to bring Peace but a sword.” “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also we are called…and be ye thankful.” Colossians 3:15

The Good News About Bad News

Just something to think about.

God Bless.

"He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord." (Psalm 112:7)

Devotional

Christians should not be overcome by "bad news", but it does not mean that they are faithless if it oppresses them. Bad news pushes us to ask difficult questions about God and our faith. No matter how bad the news is, although we may be tempted like Job's wife to disassociate ourselves from God, He wants us to respond in humility and faith, accepting His will and trusting the plan He has for us. Bad news doesn't mean God has forsaken or cursed us on the contrary, it means God has specifically chosen a trial that will bring Him glory and allow us through faith, to grow.
