Spirit Filled Believer

This.... leaving this right here.

God Bless.

Quote of the Day -Joyce Meyer

“As a Spirit-filled believer, you need to take the initiative to treat people the way you want to be treated, not the way they treat you.”

Get Rid

Some food to think on...

God Bless.

"Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. (NLT)" -Ephesians 4:31

"Anger is a hard emotion to shake, especially when you replay it in your mind like a broken record player. Thinking through past hurts does no good and only allows bitterness to grow. When you find those thoughts running through your head, take a higher road. Don't just tolerate or manage the situation, confront it head on."

Why Jesus Came

Interesting and some food for thought.

God Bless.

Why Jesus Came

Devotional by John Piper

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. (Hebrews 2:14–15)

This, I think, is my favorite Advent text because I don’t know any other that expresses so clearly the connection between the beginning and the end of Jesus’s earthly life — between the incarnation and crucifixion. These two verses make clear why Jesus came; namely, to die. They would be great to use with an unbelieving friend or family member to walk them step-by-step through your Christian view of Christmas. It might go something like this, a phrase at a time:

“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood . . . ”

The term “children” is taken from the previous verse and refers to the spiritual offspring of Christ, the Messiah (see Isaiah 8:18; 53:10). These are also the “children of God” (John 1:12). In other words, in sending Christ, God has the salvation of his “children” especially in view.

It is true that “God so loved the world, that he gave [Jesus]” (John 3:16). But it is also true that God was especially gathering “the children of God who are scattered abroad” (John 11:52). God’s design was to offer Christ to the world, and to effect the salvation of his “children” (see 1 Timothy 4:10). You may experience adoption by receiving Christ (John 1:12).

“ . . . he himself likewise partook of the same things [flesh and blood] . . . ”

This means that Christ existed before the incarnation. He was spirit. He was the eternal Word. He was with God and was God (John 1:1; Colossians 2:9). But he took on flesh and blood, and clothed his deity with humanity. He became fully man and remained fully God. It is a great mystery in many ways. But it is at the heart of our faith — and what the Bible teaches.

“ . . . that through death . . . ”

The reason he became man was to die. As God pure and simple, he could not die for sinners. But as man he could. His aim was to die. Therefore he had to be born human. He was born to die. Good Friday is the purpose of Christmas. This is what most people today need to hear about the meaning of Christmas.

“ . . . he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil . . . ”

In dying, Christ de-fanged the devil. How? By covering all our sin. This means that Satan has no legitimate grounds to accuse us before God. “Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies” (Romans 8:33) — on what grounds does he justify? Through the blood of Jesus (Romans 5:9).

Satan’s ultimate weapon against us is our own sin. If the death of Jesus takes it away, the chief weapon of the devil — the one mortal weapon that he has — is taken out of his hand. He cannot make a case for our death penalty, because the Judge has acquitted us by the death of his Son!

“ . . . and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.”

So, we are free from the fear of death. God has justified us. Satan cannot overturn that decree. And God means for our ultimate safety to have an immediate effect on our lives. He means for the happy ending to take away the slavery and fear of the Now.

If we do not need to fear our last and greatest enemy, death, then we do not need to fear anything. We can be free. Free for joy. Free for others.

What a great Christmas present from God to us! And from us to the world

Taste And See

I want an unshakable knowing that God is good.

This little devotional will help go along way in doing just that.

God Bless.

"Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! (NLT)" -"Psalm 34:8 "

"The Lord is good! That is a very simple statement but consider for a moment it’s implications. When we believe God is good then we can trust that he will take care of us. We can rest in the knowledge that He is trustworthy. We can freely praise him because only a good God deserves our praise. Do you believe that the Lord is good? Have you looked to him for refuge when you’ve experienced life’s storms? Meditate on God’s goodness and let that truth inspire hope in your heart. "

Fight The Good Fight

Something interesting and encouraging.

God Bless.

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT

1 Timothy 6:12 (NKJV) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

How much easier it would have been if God had said for us to take it easy, get a few extra hours of sleep, lay back, and that all will be just fine. But God knows that we have an enemy, satan, who would look for a time just like that, and take what we have worked so hard for.

The Bible tells us to fight the fight of faith. I have found that there is so much doubt and unbelief out there. We need to watch what we read, hear, and see. This fight of faith comes against us on every side.

Here you are, standing on the Word of God for your healing, and faith is rising up in your heart, and then someone comes along and says, “Well, you know, it might be God who put this on you to teach you something.” Then all that faith that you worked so hard to get in your heart gets watered down. That is why Paul states here that we need to fight for our faith. We need to lay hold of eternal life.

When I lay hold of something good or important, I have to hold onto it for dear life. I have to be like a pit bull with a bone in my mouth. I need to be single minded, believing that what God said is true. I am not going to let go of it, no matter what. I am not going to let go of it, no matter what anyone says. I really do not care how many books someone wrote, or how big his or her church is. IF GOD SAID IT, THAT IS WHAT I AM GOING TO BELIEVE. How about you?

Confession: Today, I choose to fight the good fight of faith. Today, I choose to lay hold of eternal life. I am like a pit bull with a bone. If God said it, I am going to believe it until I see the manifestation of it.

The Still, Small Voice

I found this little devotional encouraging and wanted to share.

God Bless.

The Still, Small Voice

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
- Psalm 23:1, NKJV

Do you sometimes cry out, as I have, “God, don’t You see my tears? Don’t You see my broken heart? God, never mind me, but how can You bear to see the agony of my loved one? God, I know that You care. I just don’t understand why You don’t intervene in this situation right now. Why don’t You do something? And, God, why did you do that?!”

Then, to my heart, I seem to hear His still, small voice whispering, “Anne, trust Me. I know what’s best.” And I’m left to wonder why I think I know better than God what’s best for me or my loved one.

If We Have To Wait

Quote of the day by Joyce Meyer -“If we have to wait to see how

Quote of the Day -Joyce Meyer

“If we have to wait to see how we feel before we know if we can enjoy the day, then we are giving feelings control over us. But thankfully we have free will and can make decisions that are not based on feelings. If we are willing to make right choices regardless of how we feel, God will always be faithful to give us the strength to do so. Living the good life that God has made ready for us is based on our being obedient to His way of being and doing. He gives us the strength to do what is right, but we are the ones who must choose it… God won’t do it for us.”

Faith Offers Hope

May we all have unshakable faith and let it start here with the words written below.

God Bless.

Faith Offers Hope

What is faith? Sometimes faith can almost be palpable. Faith drains the guilt that oppresses. Faith replaces despondency with hope. Faith infuses with new direction and purpose. Faith unlocks heaven. Faith is like cool water soaking parched souls.

So Whether We Are Here

Food for thought.

God Bless.

"So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him. (NLT)" -2 Corinthians 5:9

"Whether we know it or not, our lives are moving in a direction. If we are not intentional about goals, achievements, or accomplishments, it is easy to get swept away in the business of life. It's important to remember the ultimate goal is to please God, which can be done through different avenues. What are you working towards in your life and is it pleasing to God?"

So That No One

Food for thought.

God Bless.

"so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. (NLT)" -Philippians 2:15

"If we want to be the light of God with credibility, we must live by the standards God’s word lays out for our lives. Even when the world around us embraces evil, we are to stand firm in our faith and live clean, innocent lives. When others lie, we tell the truth. When others let greed rule their choices, we are generous. This is how we shine for Jesus, in our broken world. "

Through Faith

Something to think on.

God Bless.

"Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. (NLT)" -Hebrews 11:2

"What do your neighbors say about you? Are you viewed as a person whose word is as good as gold? How valuable is your handshake? It is important to note a direct result of being faithful to God is the gift of a good reputation. When you are faithful to God it correlates that you are faithful to other people as well. Be careful though, it's easy to take pride in your reputation."

And It is A Good Thing

I try to do this daily but I will admit, I fall short.

God Bless.

And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life - this is indeed a gift from God. (NLT) -Ecclesiastes 5:19

"Isn't it true how fortunate we would be if we were happy with the blessings God has given us? Rather, we spend much of our time thinking about the newest car we want or count down the days until our contract ends to get a new cell phone. Be happy with the blessings you have received from God and enjoy it."

When You Obey

Leaving this right here...

God Bless.

"When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father's commandments and remain in his love. (NLT)" -John 15:10

"Being obedient can be difficult to do without the right attitude. There is something deep down inside us that fights against submission and obedience. But in a loving relationship with God, our will becomes aligned with His will because He has our best in mind. Our heavenly Father takes joy in knowing we happily obey His requests of us. What is your attitude towards obedience?"

God Made You

Some food for thought.

"But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. (NLT)" -"1 Corinthians 12:18 "

" \n God made you with a specific and totally unique purpose in mind. He also has given you a one-of-a-kind set of gifts and abilities. Envy robs us of the ability to fulfill God’s special call for our lives. Focus on cultivating your gifts, rather than comparing yourself to others. When we stop comparing, God is able to use you in the exact place He has put you! \n"

Stop A Minute

I know I needed this encouragement and I wanted to share the wealth.

God Bless.

Today's Quotation:

Stop a minute, right where you are. Tell that imperious voice in your head to be still.

Barbara Kingsolver

Today's Meditation:

When life gets hectic and busy, all that busyness and stress can end up inside of us. This has a negative effect on us on all levels--mentally decreasing the amount of focus we can devote to tasks, physically decreasing our health and wellbeing, emotionally leaving us feeling exhausted and defeated, and spiritually leaving us feeling empty and alone. It is therefore imperative that we take the time to stop and still "that imperious voice in our head," as Barbara tells us, whenever we find ourselves being hurried or overburdened.

We are most effective and most productive when we are well rested and focused on the task at hand. When we approach life from a place of relaxation, we are able to make better decisions and more sound judgments because the factors that make up those decisions seem less drastic to us. We are also afforded the opportunity for powerful contemplation and insight into things that would otherwise be difficult to find when our thoughts are chaotic.

And then there may be times when being overly relaxed and restful is inappropriate in our lives, as tension can sometimes be one of our best motivators. Perhaps when I am skating in a hockey match or someone's life is in danger. Calm and relaxed would most likely be more detrimental than quick and concise.

Can you put the restless and anxious side of your affairs out of your mind? If so, then you are on the way to improving your quality of life in many important ways.

Today's Challenge: Focus on remaining calm and relaxed throughout the day.

Questions to consider:

Why do our restless and anxious thoughts tend to dominate our minds?

What are some ways in which we can let our restful thoughts be more dominant?

How can we learn to relax more in tense situations?

For further thought:

A ruffled mind makes a restless pillow.

The Root Of Peace

Leaving it right here...

God Bless.

The Root of Peace

In essence, there is only one thing God asks of us — that we be men and women of prayer, people who live close to God, people for whom God is everything and for whom God is enough. That is the root of peace.

For God

I needed this and I wanted to share the wealth and hope encouragement can be found.

God Bless.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (NLT)" -2 Timothy 1:7

"God does not give us a spirit of fear. He enables us to live bold, loving, and disciplined lives. If you feel you are paralyzed by fear then consider which voices you are giving the most attention. Is your source of information by which you make decisions telling you that you should live oppressed by fear and anxiety? If so this input goes against God’s word. He wants you to live with freedom and with joy. Consider allowing God’s word to have the more time so that you can live a life that is defined by God’s power and love. "
