The Shepherd Who Cares

Love this little devotional.  These are words to live by. These words should close any doors to doubt about whether or not Jesus loves you. It's just not a song anymore!

"I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me," (NLT) -John 10:14

These words came straight from Jesus' mouth. If you ever wonder whether Jesus cares for you or loves you, this is your verse. He knows you so well, even the cry of your heart. He is a good shepherd who has sacrificed Himself for you. If you are wondering where God is in your life or if He cares for you, this is your message. These are His words speaking directly to you.

Do My Best

This devotional by Joyce Myer's is something I think is lacking. I myself is lacking the wisdom and actions to do my best. I want to change that. I want to quit letting people run me over and just listen to the voice that will cause me to do my best.

Do Your Best!

God is excellent. As His representatives, we should be too. So it's important that we do our best in everything that we put our hands to. We must be motivated to do our very best in whatever we set out to accomplish. Paul urges us to "learn to...prize what is excellent and of real value." As we make excellence a way of life, we will sense God’s joy and be good examples to the world.

You must sow excellence in order to reap an excellent harvest. We can't expect excellent results in life when we don't live a life of excellence. The Bible teaches us to develop diligence, steadfastness and determination— all of which will help us live lives of excellence.

So I encourage you to do your best with any project or activity that God places in your path. Be diligent. Don't leave things undone, but finish what you start to the best of your ability. Set your mind to be steadfast and determined. Commit yourself to excellent results.

God honors an attitude of excellence. Choose to do your best, and He will always work alongside you.

Prayer Starter: God, I want to live a life of excellence. Strengthen me and help me to do my best in every situation with steadfastness, diligence and determination.

Overcoming Temptation Via the Word

I just love how words or subjects in a devotional strikes a cord or makes you stop and think and draws you closer to God. Do you ever wonder how a devotional knows what your going through on that particular day? Like how did it know you needed to read those words just to make it through the day.

That's why I love devotional's. God speaks through them if you don't rush and carefully read and try to understand what the author is trying to bring forth in their heart. If you let it, you can almost hear God's own voice speak. This is why I love to share the ones I get the most out of.

I long for God to speak to me and to others so they might be uplifted.

God Bless.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve
- Matthew 4:10

It is striking that Jesus, who later asserts that he could call down twelve legions of angels to assist him at any time, chooses to face the temptations of the devil in the wilderness with nothing but the Word of God -- which is the same, and only, weapon that we have against Satan's temptations, as well.

It is as if Jesus is showing us just how powerful, just how effective, God's Word is in the midst of spiritual battle, so that we will trust it's strength for our own struggles. Jesus three times faces Satan's three temptations by quoting the Bible. What other tool could we hope for than the very one Jesus himself wielded in times of personal temptation?

But these verses do not just magically appear to our minds in the moment that we need them. We must be reading, memorizing, listening to, absorbing God's Word in every way we possible can. We must be people of the Book, Bible-steeped soldiers in the kingdom of Christ.

Jesus knew the right answer, from God's Word, at the right time for the right temptation; we must strive to know and do the same. It is only then that we will be able to, with authority and conviction, repel the approaches of Satan effectively.

Just a Little Reminder

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. (NLT) -Romans 3:22

Do you ever wonder what makes a person a believer or who is considered to be a Christian? Many times we get confused into thinking a person must perform certain tasks such as going to church or praying regularly makes someone a Christian.

However, being a Christian is determined solely by believing in Jesus Christ dying for our sins and conquered death by rising from the grave. If you wrestling with yourself about whether you are a believer, what do you believe about Jesus Christ?

Many Will Give Up

This has been me for year's. I've allowed so much into my life that has taken me to the dark side of life.
God forgive me and those I've hurt.

I am slowly being drawn out. May this devotional by John Bevere find meaning, motivation, and hope to all.

God Bless.

“Many will give up and will betray and hate each other.”
Matthew 24:10 CEV

Jesus warned His disciples that many believers will give up on their faith. They will not stand the test of time or fight the good fight.

Making this statement must have broken Jesus’ heart. Many of those whose freedom He purchased by sacrificing His life will give up on Him.

Often, quitting is rooted in compromise, which is the opposite of relentlessness. Compromise comes when we succumb to the world’s system—its values and way of doing things. As believers we have to fight against the current and fully reject the world’s system. We do this by becoming fully submissive to God’s wisdom and commands. Make this decision: compromise is not an option. Determine that you will not quit. It may not always be easy, but it will be worth it!

God will bless you, if you don’t give up when your faith is being tested. He will reward you with a glorious life, just as he rewards everyone who loves him. (James 1:12 CEV)

There is a great reward for those who stand with God, a reward given not only in the moment but also for all of eternity. The decision that you will not quit is not one you must uphold by your own strength. You have been given what it takes to finish well: the empowering grace of God, which cannot fail. So run confidently toward your prize. You are never alone in this pursuit; God remains with you always.

…And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that. (1 Corinthians 1:9 The Message)

Our God is relentless in His faithfulness to us. He will never give up on us. So how could we give up on Him? He is willing to come alongside us and help us to finish strong. So stay with God, take heart, and never quit! If you struggle to remain relentless in your faith, pray:

Father, I want to be relentless. I don’t want to be someone who compromises. I reject the world’s system and fully surrender to Your Word and wisdom. By Your grace, I will not quit on You. Thank You for giving me the power to finish strong. I know that if You are with me, I can make it. Give me the endurance to remain steadfast always. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Zombie Jesus

We need to get to know the Zombie Jesus.  We need to know everything about who Jesus is from any and all angles.

ombie Jesus (Who Is He?)
by Judah Smith from Jesus Is...

The Gospel of Matthew ends on a spectacular note. Actually, the entire final chapter is an exclamation mark celebrating the greatest victory in Jesus’s life and challenging us with a glorious future.

The setting is right after Jesus’s death. The Roman government was relieved because the guy who had sparked so much civil unrest was no longer their problem. The Pharisees were ecstatic, because their competition had been eliminated.

The disciples were terrified and confused because this was not at all how they visualized things working out.

Here is chapter 28:

Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb. Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from Heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.

Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as He said would happen. Come, see where His body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead, and He is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see Him there. Remember what I have told you.”

The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message. And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to Him, grasped His feet, and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”

As the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the leading priests what had happened. A meeting with the elders was called, and they decided to give the soldiers a large bribe. They told the soldiers, “You must say, ‘Jesus’s disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.’ If the governor hears about it, we’ll stand up for you so you won’t get in trouble.” So the guards accepted the bribe and said what they were told to say. Their story spread widely among the Jews, and they still tell it today.

Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him - but some of them doubted!

Jesus came and told His disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

I’m Back

In one moment, everything changed. This was the ultimate happy ending, the original buzzer-beater. Everyone knew Jesus was dead. They saw the Roman soldiers execute Him, and Roman soldiers were professionals at killing people.

But now, He’s alive. He’s popping up in random places, scaring the heck out of His already jittery disciples, and saying, “I’m back.” For some reason I always imagine an Austrian accent.

The Romans and the Pharisees are left scrambling, while the disciples are out of their minds with joy. A few of Jesus’s followers needed some convincing because like many of us, they were more prone to believe bad news than good news.

Really? Jesus must have thought. I come back from the dead and My friends don’t even recognize Me. Lame.

But Jesus was back, just as He had promised.

And speaking of zombie apocalypses - which we weren’t, but my brain works like that - you could call Jesus the ultimate zombie. He was killed, then He came back from the dead, and now He’s coming for you.

Okay - some of you would do well to discover a sense of humor. You’ll live longer.

Here’s the deal. If Jesus just died and that was it, there’s nothing remarkable about that. People die all the time - even good people. It’s part of being human. Lots of people have even given their lives for their beliefs. We remember them as martyrs, and their legacy inspires us, and sometimes we get a day off work in their honor, but that is about it.

But if it’s true Jesus rose from the dead, then that changes everything. That means He conquered the final enemy: death. That means everything He claimed about Himself is true. He isn’t just human. He is God. He is the answer to mankind’s problems. He is the Savior.

The Pharisees figured this out quicker than many of us. Whether they actually thought He came back to life or not, we don’t know. I suspect some of them did, but they couldn’t process it. They couldn’t adjust their thinking. They didn’t want a bigger perspective. They didn’t want to mess with the status quo. They knew what would happen if rumor got out that He was back. It would undermine their entire way of life. The religious authorities would no longer be the way to God; Jesus would be the way to God. Sinners would no longer be excluded from salvation; they would be prime candidates for salvation. People would no longer strive to follow impossible laws; they would follow Jesus, whose yoke was easy and whose burden was light, and they would live in the wide open spaces of grace.

So they lied. And they bribed the Roman guards to spread the lie. And they promised to protect the guards whom they had bribed. Yes, it was messy, but it was better than accepting that the laws of the universe had been upended because God Himself, the Maker of the laws, had been in their midst but they didn’t recognize Him.

I don’t mean to criticize sincere people, but a lot of good people go to great lengths to avoid the conclusion that Jesus is God. They can accept that He was a good man - even a great man. They lament the fact that such a nice guy died for what He believed. “It’s sad. People are so awful to each other sometimes.” They wish He could have continued His career as an enlightened spiritual teacher. They hold up His teachings on love and justice as an ideal for humanity to pursue. And they feel bad, and they put on a long face, and they go back to their lives and their problems with the same limited perspective as everyone around them.

But Jesus didn’t just die. He rose from the dead.

That’s what a God would do, because an eternal, infinite God can’t be killed - at least not permanently - by His creation. The resurrection proves that everything He said was true. It gives us all hope that we can live in victory in this life. It proves that life continues after our time on earth is over.

The Gospel is good news because of the resurrection. The gospel isn’t just that Jesus died for our sins. That’s the first half. The second half is that Jesus rose again, proving once and for all that sin and death were conquered and we can have eternal life.

A Song of Praise

A good reminder for any and all day's.

http://bible.com/r/5b.2j Today I am reading day 169 of Praise In the Presence of God:

A Song of Praise

Let the spirit of praise rise to so great and tenderly loving a Father, Whose gentle grace reaches to us at every dimension of our need—spirit, soul, and body.

Let a song of praise rise to the Son, our Savior, Whose suffering incorporated a provision of healing for the whole person, as surely as His death has accomplished forgiveness and eternal life!

And let a welcome to the Holy Spirit be extended, to move among us as God’s people in ways that continue, now and ever, to glorify the present ministry of Christ by manifesting His presence in our midst, and by distributing healing gifts in tribute to His glorious Name!

Today Give Praise

Isaiah 12:4-6 In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”

Today is a day worthy of praising the Lord. Every day is a gift from God, and we live these days under the authority and mercy of God in Heaven. Let a song of adoration rise from your heart and flow from your lips. He is worthy to be praised!

Choose God's Standards, Not the World's

Words to live by from Joyce Myer

Living above society’s moral decline involves the choices we make regarding our conversations, the way we dress, what we read, and the TV shows and movies we watch. It also has to do with the level of integrity with which we live our personal lives, interact with other people and conduct ourselves in our businesses or professions.

As Christians, we need to encourage one another to live by godly standards and resist the pull of the world. A well-known quote offers some good advice: “Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

One of God’s great gifts to mankind is the power of choice. If we want to enjoy the blessings He has for us, we need to make lifestyle choices that align with His Word and are consistent with the values of His Word, not choices reflecting the constantly eroding values of the world.

I urge you to make a decision to serve God wholly, putting Him first in everything you do.

Prayer Starter: God, I don’t want to live by the world’s standards. I put You first in my life, because I know that Your ways are the best.

You intended

Encouragement...

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. (NLT) -Genesis 50:20 Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, but God used this circumstance for good. If you find yourself in a desperate situation, don't be afraid. Do not think for one minute that God doesn't love you because of your circumstances. He loves you. Don't lose yourself in despair, focus on a bigger picture.

Joyce Myer a Word for Today

I find myself in somewhat of the same position and I needed this to help me and If I needed it, someone else must need it also. Be blessed.

Filled with All Peace and Joy

I went through a particularly difficult time several years ago when there was absolutely no joy or peace in my life. Every time I made a mistake, I was quick to condemn myself, angry that I couldn't be the "perfect Christian."

Then one day, I came across Romans 15:13: May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing... That was it. I got it!

I realized that I had plunged into doubt and unbelief, allowing the devil to torment me with negativity, anger, and impatience. In the process, I had forgotten that believing in God and trusting His Word brings peace and hope and overcomes my weakness.

God's Word gave me the answer. Jesus loved me so much that He not only forgave all my sins from the past but also looked ahead and forgave me for those moments of weakness when I'd fail in the future. I don't have to allow Satan to sneak in with questions or unbelief, and you don't either.

Know today that peace, hope and joy are right in front of you. Go to His Word and let it stir up your faith.

Prayer Starter: Lord, every time I start to believe the enemy’s lies, remind me of the truth in Your Word. By believing in You, I receive peace and joy today.

Be a True Worshiper

I have absolutely have gotten a lot out of this devotional.  I need to take it in. Digest it. Then live it! My prayer is you find something in this devotional to motivate, speaks something to your heart which will cause you to view and worship differently.

Be a True Worshiper

Worship is so much more than just singing songs. It is a condition of the heart and a state of mind. We can even worship God passionately without singing a single note. Our worship for God is born in our hearts, it fills our thoughts, and it is expressed through our mouths and through our bodies.

The world often thinks of worship as "religion," which could not be further from the biblical concept of worship. It's about a personal relationship, spiritual intimacy and passionate expressions of devotion from people who love God with all their hearts. This is true worship.

The Bible says that God is seeking those who worship Him “in spirit and in truth."

I find it interesting that He does not want just anybody to worship Him. He wants true and genuine people. He does not want to be worshiped out of fear, obligation or religion.

True worship is a result of intimacy with God. Worship God today with your whole heart, and be a worshiper in spirit and in truth!

Prayer Starter: Lord, I don't just want to offer You lip service. Instead, I give my life to You as a true worshiper, intimately connected with You. You are so good to me and I want to worship You “in spirit and in truth."

In the beginning God

It's been awhile. But I love this devotional! My hope by passing it along that it will encourage you and make you dig deeper and not to fall pry...

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth… And God saw that it was good.
—Genesis 1:1, 25

Last summer our family had the privilege of spending four days in the Bahamas. On the last day of our vacation, while sitting on a small island lined with palm trees, enjoying a cloudless sky above us and the blue water of the ocean in front of us, I was reminded of the beauty of God’s creation and of the words of today’s text: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

But we shouldn’t need a trip to the Bahamas to remind us that all creation comes from God’s hand. As you travel, or sit in your backyard, or enjoy a beautiful park this summer, take the time to remember that this is God’s creation, entrusted to our care and given for our enjoyment. Then recall the words of Psalm 19:1: “The heavens declare the glory of God.”

Sadly, God’s beautiful creation has been tainted by our sin. In many parts of our world it’s clear that people have polluted the land and harmed all kinds of plant and animal life. But no human carelessness, no natural disaster, no scientific breakthrough or theory will ever be able to contradict the truth of Genesis 1:1, which tells us in plain language that it was God himself who created the heavens and the earth.

Wherever you find yourself this summer, remember that this is God’s creation, and be assured that he is moving history toward a new creation.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, help us to praise you for your marvelous creation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
