Busybody

This little devotional hurts a little bit but I needed it.

Wanted to share.

God Bless.

It's easy to become a busybody without realizing it. We have access to the details of a person's life through social media, national news, or small-town gossip. We feel we have valuable information to share when, in reality, we are only causing trouble. We unintentionally spread rumors powerful enough to create division, break a heart, or destroy a friend's reputation. We must remain alert to the power of gossip and focus on the work at hand. God needs us to actively spread the Gospel, not harmful details regarding a person's life.

Dear Father, please forgive us for wasting time spreading rumors when we should be actively sharing Your Word. We will keep our work in alignment with Your plan and not gossip of the world. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Allowing

This is me and sometimes I just have to read something like in the words written below to keep me encouraged.

God Bless.

Are you allowing lies to define who you are? Do you live each day believing the lie that you are unloved, unworthy or unforgiven? God invites us to cast these lies, cares, weights aside! God desires us to live life carefree. To live our days secure in the knowledge that we are His loved ones.

God Tenderly Reminds

This...

God Bless.

God tenderly reminds us that we are children too! We are His children. There are few things in this life that are more comforting in a season of difficulty than being in the presence of your parents. A mother’s hug can be one of the most restorative actions this world offers and that is exactly what God says He is for us! He’s our Father, our Safe Place, Refuge, Comforter, Wisdom-Giver, and Rest when we hit those moments where we just can’t anymore.

Give God Your Hurts

This...

God Bless.

Give God Your Hurts

In your life, you will be hurt by others; sometimes intentionally; sometimes unintentionally. How you handle that hurt determines your happiness. When you bottle up hurt in your life and hold onto it - that is called resentment. If somebody hurt you years ago and you're still holding onto it, it will poison your life. For your own health and happiness, you must learn to forgive. The Bible says forgive and be forgiven. In fact, Jesus says, "If you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done." (Matthew 6:15 TEV) They're inter-related. Forgiveness is the only way to get rid of the past. That's one of the values of prayer. It helps you unload, forgive those who have hurt you and let it go so you can get on with life. When we let go of our hurts and forgive others we are reflecting the grace of our heavenly Father, who forgave us and continues to forgive us. It means we've given God our love; we've given God our lives; and, in doing that, we worship God.

When You Pray

Thought provoking.

God Bless.

When You Pray, Give God Your Life

Jesus says when we pray, we should commit ourselves to God's will. After I give God my love, I give Him my life. Notice the Lord's Prayer says, "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Did you know God has a specific will for your life?

Part of connecting with God is saying, "God, what is your will for me today? I want to do your will." In heaven, God's will is done perfectly. The problem on earth is God's will is not always done. That's why we're to pray, "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." We're saying, "God, I want to submit to You. I want to do what You want me to do." True success in life is knowing the will of God and getting right in the center of it. You can pray "Your will be done" in three different ways. 1) You can say it in resentment: "Your will be done, but I don't like it." 2) You can say it in resignation: "Your will be done, because I can't help it." 3) Or you can say it in anticipation: "Your will be done, because I know it is the best and that's what I want for my life today!" When I was a kid, we watched a popular TV show entitled, "Father Knows Best." Your earthly father may not always know what's best, but your Heavenly Father does.

Fruit Grows From Spiritual Seeds

Interesting and thought provoking.

God Bless.

Fruit Grows From Spiritual Seeds

When you think about your walk with Jesus, some days you may wonder, "Why is this so hard? I'm still struggling with so many problems. When will I finally get it right?" In my journey as a pastor, I've learned that spiritual growth is often like the growth we see in nature - the best fruit ripens slowly. The problem is we tend to get impatient, so we dig up the seed to check the progress of its growth, and that slows down our growth! If you're not seeing as much fruit as you'd like, don't despair. Growth takes time. In the meantime, try these steps for spiritual growth: Nurture growth with God's Word --

I know you're already doing this, but when you read the promises of God, again and again, it helps you remember that he is at work, even when you can't see him at work: "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1 NIV) Cooperate with God as he prunes -- Praise God for the work he's doing in your life, remembering "he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more." (John 15:2 NLT) Pray through the "fruit list' -- Pray through the "fruit list' (the fruit of the Spirit) from Galatians 5:22-23. The NIV Bible lists the fruit as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Ask God to help you grow this fruit in your life.

The Word Of God

Food for the soul.

God Bless.

 : His Word

TODAY’S VERSE
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How important is it for you and I to spend time with God in His word? It is imperative! It is a must. If we are going to live the kind of life God wants us to, then we must spend time listening to what God has to say about it. Everything we do is based on the various beliefs, perceptions, and assumptions we have. Many of these were shaped in childhood. Others are the result of the knowledge and experience we pick up as adults. If we are going to shape our thinking and behavior so that it aligns with His will for us, we must let His word penetrate deep into our heart and make all the necessary changes it needs to. The author of Hebrews compares the word of God to a sharp, double edged sword. Just like a sword can cut deep into our flesh and bone, so God’s word cuts to the thoughts and attitudes that we hide deep in our heart. God then can use His word to judge and correct those core beliefs that guide the way we live. Habits, addictions, compulsive behavior, negative emotions can all change, if we let His living and active word work in our heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, please use Your word to mold me, change me and make me more like You. Cut to my inner thoughts and beliefs. Judge them, correct them and align them with Yours. In Jesus Name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God’s Word Changes Me
Meditate on today’s verse. Visualize God’s word as living and active changing your thoughts and emotions. Sense God sharing with you, moving in your heart. See His joy as He imparts His word to you penetrating deep into your soul and changing your attitudes

What A Powerful Tool

This!

God Bless.

What a powerful tool each of us is blessed with: communication! Depending upon its delivery and timing, something as simple as a laugh has the power to make a jovial comedian radiate or cut a person to their core. Use your tongue for God's purposes by building up loved ones, teaching others about Jesus' love, or praying in difficult situations.

No Shepherd

More food for thought.

God Bless.

So my people are wandering like lost sheep; they are attacked because they have no shepherd. (NLT)

Do you ever feel as though you are just wandering through life? Without a shepherd in our lives, we leave ourselves vulnerable to attack. Attacks from others and even attacks against ourselves can come our way. Make room in your life for God to provide purpose and direction.

In The Same Way

Interesting.

God Bless.

In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches.  But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. (NLT)

The exhaustive list of recognized anxiety disorders is a poignant expression of how many different ways people try to cope with fear, and fail miserably at it. Anxiety is caused when people try to cope with the lack of control over circumstances which stems from sins inflicted by others, by their own doing, and or as a result of medical issues. God expects us to surrender all of our fears to Him and trust Him to work for our good in every situation. This requires living a life of total surrender obedience to His Word and making lifestyle changes in order to become healthy in body and mind.

Jesus is Alive

Food for thought.

Jesus Is Alive

He is not here, but is risen!
- Luke 24:6, NKJV

It was early Sunday morning before dawn. An elite, handpicked Roman guard was watching the tomb in which Jesus of Nazareth had been laid. Knowing their very lives depended upon their vigilance, the eyes of the soldiers never dimmed, their bodies never relaxed as they carried out their assignment to keep any and all away from the tomb. No one was to get in. Certainly no one was to get out!

Suddenly, in the darkness, the ground began to rumble and shake as though a mighty rocket was being launched, and a violent earthquake erupted. Then, before the horror-filled gaze of the guards, against the inky blackness of night, an angel clothed in light as dazzling as new snow under a noonday sun descended from heaven, walked over to the tomb, rolled away the stone, and sat down on it! The guards passed out in terrified unconsciousness because they had seen past the angel and the rolled-away stone into the tomb! And the tomb was empty! JESUS OF NAZARETH HAD RISEN FROM THE DEAD! HE’S ALIVE!

Open Your Heart

This...

God Bless.

Open Your Heart to God

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me.
- Psalm 139:23-24, NKJV

Have you erected a shield around your heart? A shield . . . of pride or doubt

or shame

or anger?

Did you think that if you opened your heart and let God see inside, that He would blame you for what you have or haven’t done? Or rebuke you for your lack of faith?

You and I can be so foolish! Why do we think we can hide our feelings from God? Why would we want to hide our feelings from God? Would you open up your heart and show it to Him? Let Him see exactly how you feel and what you think. Don’t hide it or repress it or cover it up or pretend it’s not there. Just pour it all out to Him, and then wait expectantly for His response.

From Why?

You Don't Have To Pretend

Interesting little devotional. Wanted to share.

God Bless.

You Don't Have to Pretend

We're foolish when we do something wrong and then try to sneak it past God, to stuff it in a closet and lock the door. The truth is, God even knows what's behind the locked door. Everything you think, everything you see, everything you do, everything you feel -- God knows all about it. He already knows all you've done wrong and He still loves you! You're not fooling God when you keep your sins hidden. He's not shocked by your sin and not surprised when you admit it to Him. Confessing you sin will never change the way He feels about you! He loves you unconditionally, and that means you don't have to fake it; you don't have to pretend.
