Goodness Is About Character

Some food for thought.

God Bless.

Today's Quotation:

Goodness is about character--integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people.

Dennis Prager

Today's Meditation:

What would life be like if we all were creatures with goodness of character? If we were only kind, honest, generous, selfless, men of integrity and moral courage, and so forth, then there really would be little need for other virtues such as patience, forbearance, or forgiveness. Imagine all the negative things we would never have to deal with in life and all the time we would have now have available to enjoy life to the fullest instead of putting out the fires of negativity.

As Dennis mentions, the most important virtue of goodness is "how we treat other people." If we show pure goodness to others, we add goodness to this world--goodness that will be passed on to others and multiply exponentially. Through every simple act of goodness that we extend towards others, that much more of the world's wickedness--pain and misery, discontent and unhappiness, hatred and anger, insecurity and manipulation--is crushed.

So what am I waiting for? I can act in a way that promotes goodness in life. I can forgive others their inconsistencies and inconsiderateness. And I can practice being a man of character today.

Today's Challenge: Treat others with goodness, kindness, generosity, honesty, and so forth as you go about your day.

Questions to consider:

In what ways do you practice integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, and moral courage?

What would life be like if everyone treated others with pure goodness?

Why is the world not that way? Do most people who act without kindness and integrity really want to do so?

For further thought:

If everyone were clothed with integrity, if every heart were just, frank, and kindly, the other virtues would be well-nigh useless, since their chief purpose is to make us bear with patience the injustice of our fellows.

Quote Of The Day - The Only Ones

Leaving it right here.

God Bless.

Quote of the Day -Joyce Meyer

“We are the only ones who can make decisions for ourselves about how we will handle the situations that arise in our lives. Life is not likely to get any easier, but our approach to life can change and that will make it easier.”

If we cannot believe God when circumstances seem be against us, we do not believe Him at all.

Quote Of The Day - Begin My Prayer In Silence

A new perspective?

Definitely some food for thought.

God Bless.

Quote of the Day – Mother Teresa

I always begin my prayer in silence, for it is in the silence of the heart that God speaks. God is the friend of silence-we need to listen to God because it’s not what we say but what He says to us and through us that matters.

The Time Will Pass Away

Something to think on.

God Bless.

Today's Quotation:

The time will pass anyway... you can either spend it creating the life you want or spend it living the life you don't want. The choice is yours.

Unknown

Today's Meditation:

It is easy to get so caught up in the flow of everyday things, or busy chasing errands and tasks, that we forget that we are in control of our life. That is a fact. Yet in spite of this, the truth remains that we have the ability to make the choices that determine how we experience life every day of our lives.

Perhaps we limit our choices to avoid conflict, or due to perceived issues. Or maybe we are afraid of the potential outcome, or wish to not become an inconvenience. But how often does any of this come to pass? Is it truly worth our time and energy, or does it merely add needless stress and worry to our lives and distract us from what we really want?

Life tends to get away from us. Yet in spite of this, we choose how we spend the moments of our life--"creating the life we want or merely living the life we do not want." In the end, it really comes down to what are we going to allow to consume the precious hours of the life we have left?

Today's Challenge: Spend your day creating something you find worthwhile living over again.

Questions to consider:

Why do we use the word "spend" when speaking of time?

What are some things that affect how you decide to spend your time?

How do you define "the life you want?"

For further thought:

If we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves.

For This World

Amen and thank you, Lord!

God Bless.

For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. (NLT)

This world is not our home! We are Heaven bound. This truth is fundamental to the Christian faith. It’s a recognition that things are not how they ought to be on this Earth and that we have a hope that lives past the grave. We can be comforted in knowing that the best is yet to come!

We Need Others

Leaving this right here.

God Bless.

Today's Quotation:

We need others. We need others to love and we need to be loved by them. There is no doubt that without it, we too, like the infant left alone, would cease to grow, cease to develop, choose madness and even death.

Leo Buscaglia

Today's Meditation:

It is a truth of life that we need each other. This can be a scary realization--scary perhaps because it requires us to rely on others in big and small ways, as well as laying bare many of our vulnerabilities as human creatures. On the other hand, it is can also be a very fulfilling realization, as our need for others opens the door for necessary personal growth and understanding. In addition, it offers purpose to their lives as well as creating it for our own in the process. And although needing others requires that we risk some of our safety and comfort, the alternative, as Leo points out, is to cease to develop and to grow--an almost certain claim to a madness that will eat away at the life we have within us.

Love is all around us. It is in every single person that you see each day, and you and I must have it. Unfortunately, sometimes we do not receive enough of it. Likewise, sometimes we do not give enough to others. And that is sad. The irony of it all is that we are loved... loved by a God who created us, and loved by our brothers and sisters who share in this experience of life. Yet because we sometimes feel unloved, we bring negativity into our lives and hide our love away.

One of the greatest joys of life is the ability to experience deep love of our fellow man--a love that is both necessary and can be shared. Do so as much as possible and do not hold back. For the more love you share... the fuller your own cup becomes.

Today's Challenge: Be a bearer of love through all your interactions with others.

Questions to consider:

What are some of the feelings you experience when you feel unloved?

What changes in your life when you feel loved?

How can you share your love with others? Can you identify anyone who needs it today?

For further thought:

We have to allow ourselves to be loved by the people who really love us, the people who really matter. Too much of the time, we are blinded by our own pursuits of people to love us, people that don't even matter, while all that time we waste and the people who do love us have to stand on the sidewalk and watch us beg in the streets! It's time to put an end to this. It's time for us to let ourselves be loved.

Hide Me

This... leaving it right here.

Be encouraged.

God Bless.

Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

Inspiration

The enemy feels he can shake our faith; he lays temptations at our feet to disrupt our journey to the Lord. We know God is more powerful than his traps, and when we place our trust in Him, He will protect our hearts and instruct our footsteps to prevent us from wandering off course. Our Heavenly Father loves us unconditionally and shelters us from pain by providing peace that passes all understanding. He will continue to shelter us from the wicked.

Prayer

Dear God, We are grateful for Your shelter amidst the sinful temptations that cross our path. We will forsake our sinful nature and continue forward to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

You Who

Let's just say, this is our friendly reminder about what matters.

Be encouraged.

God Bless.

"You who have shown me many troubles and distresses will revive me again, and will bring me up again from the depths of the earth." (Psalm 71:20)

Devotional

The Psalmist declares that God is the rock of salvation. We often keep record of our lives based on the many bitter troubles we have endured: that was the summer I was injured, that was the year we lost a relative,... But the presence of God in the midst of each trouble should never be overlooked. There is not a single situation that He will not help us through. Instead of counting the many bitter troubles, acknowledge the presence and blessings of God in every situation. He is faithful and will revive and bring you through them all.

Thinking About Thinking

Just some encouragement in the words written below.

God Bless.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8)

Devotional

Our minds easily become congested with troubling thoughts--in response to various situations. Yet, God says that daily we are to renew our minds (Romans 12:2). This verse in Philippians helps us to better understand how God wants our minds to function. These are the traits that should govern our thinking: truth, honesty, justice, purity, love, virtue, and praise. Ask God to help you develop the mind of Christ and to purge you of ungodly and negative thought patterns.

Be Strong

Stay encouraged.  Hopefully, this little Devotional will be that encouragement.

God Bless.

Be Strong

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. (NLT) -1 Corinthians 16:13
As we anxiously await Christ's return we must be courageously strong. A firm, steady strength is needed to overcome obstacles. This strength is rooted in faith in God. The strength of God has the power to battle any fear. Stay strong in your faith when all else seems to fade.

You Can't Hide From God

This...

Truth bomb!

God Bless.

You Can't Hide From God

One night I was standing in front of the refrigerator. I'd gotten out of bed to make a midnight refrigerator raid even though I was on a diet. And I stood there with the refrigerator door open, thinking, "Just one bite ." You know how it goes. You get into a debate with yourself: "Go ahead; it won't hurt this one time." "No, I'm on this diet." In moments like these, Satan feeds us a devilish excuse, "No one will ever know." You may not be standing in front of the refrigerator. You may be at work, or filling out your income tax form, or some place your family wouldn't want you to be. But you go ahead and do something questionable because it's easy to get caught up in the false belief that "no one will ever know.' The truth is, God already knows! The Bible says nothing in creation is hidden from God, and that God knows everything about you. This means there is never a question God can't answer and never a problem that confuses Him. He's never surprised and he's never shocked. He never says, "Oh, really!?" God knows everything.

Avoid Envy

Truth.

Give yourself to mediated on the words written below and then be encouraged

God Bless.

Avoid Envy

A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones. (NLT) -Proverbs 14:30

Do you find yourself wishing that you were getting rewarded instead of someone else? Do you ever feel like someone else's life is so much better than your own? These are the moments that envy wants to sneak into our lives and steals our peace! The reality is that we each have been placed in our lives on purpose by a God that is in control. He instructs us to focus our thoughts on how we can serve him in whatever circumstances we are in rather than comparing ourselves to others.

Helpless Without Him

Something to think about and hopefully will be encouraging as well.

God Bless.

Helpless Without Him

"I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me." - John 5:30, NKJV

Have you wondered, in agony, why God is doing what He’s doing? Why He has delayed answering your prayer? Have you reacted to the delay by trying to help Him out and speed things up? Have you turned to . . . a doctor, a lawyer, a counselor, a friend, pop psychology, a neighbor’s sympathetic ear, or a popular TV talk show? Have you resorted to threats or bargaining or manipulation until you’re totally exhausted? Have you come to the absolute end of your rope?

One reason God may be delaying His answer to your prayer and postponing His intervention in your situation is to bring you to the end of your own resources. Sometimes God waits in order to allow us time to exhaust every other avenue of help until we finally realize without any doubt or reservation that we are totally helpless without Him.
