You intended

Encouragement...

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. (NLT) -Genesis 50:20 Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, but God used this circumstance for good. If you find yourself in a desperate situation, don't be afraid. Do not think for one minute that God doesn't love you because of your circumstances. He loves you. Don't lose yourself in despair, focus on a bigger picture.

Filled with All Peace and Joy

I went through a particularly difficult time several years ago when there was absolutely no joy or peace in my life. Every time I made a mistake, I was quick to condemn myself, angry that I couldn't be the "perfect Christian."

Then one day, I came across Romans 15:13: May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing... That was it. I got it!

I realized that I had plunged into doubt and unbelief, allowing the devil to torment me with negativity, anger, and impatience. In the process, I had forgotten that believing in God and trusting His Word brings peace and hope and overcomes my weakness.

God's Word gave me the answer. Jesus loved me so much that He not only forgave all my sins from the past but also looked ahead and forgave me for those moments of weakness when I'd fail in the future. I don't have to allow Satan to sneak in with questions or unbelief, and you don't either.

Know today that peace, hope and joy are right in front of you. Go to His Word and let it stir up your faith.

Prayer Starter: Lord, every time I start to believe the enemy’s lies, remind me of the truth in Your Word. By believing in You, I receive peace and joy today.

Be a True Worshiper

I have absolutely have gotten a lot out of this devotional.  I need to take it in. Digest it. Then live it! My prayer is you find something in this devotional to motivate, speaks something to your heart which will cause you to view and worship differently.

Be a True Worshiper

Worship is so much more than just singing songs. It is a condition of the heart and a state of mind. We can even worship God passionately without singing a single note. Our worship for God is born in our hearts, it fills our thoughts, and it is expressed through our mouths and through our bodies.

The world often thinks of worship as "religion," which could not be further from the biblical concept of worship. It's about a personal relationship, spiritual intimacy and passionate expressions of devotion from people who love God with all their hearts. This is true worship.

The Bible says that God is seeking those who worship Him “in spirit and in truth."

I find it interesting that He does not want just anybody to worship Him. He wants true and genuine people. He does not want to be worshiped out of fear, obligation or religion.

True worship is a result of intimacy with God. Worship God today with your whole heart, and be a worshiper in spirit and in truth!

Prayer Starter: Lord, I don't just want to offer You lip service. Instead, I give my life to You as a true worshiper, intimately connected with You. You are so good to me and I want to worship You “in spirit and in truth."

In the beginning God

It's been awhile. But I love this devotional! My hope by passing it along that it will encourage you and make you dig deeper and not to fall pry...

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth… And God saw that it was good.
—Genesis 1:1, 25

Last summer our family had the privilege of spending four days in the Bahamas. On the last day of our vacation, while sitting on a small island lined with palm trees, enjoying a cloudless sky above us and the blue water of the ocean in front of us, I was reminded of the beauty of God’s creation and of the words of today’s text: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

But we shouldn’t need a trip to the Bahamas to remind us that all creation comes from God’s hand. As you travel, or sit in your backyard, or enjoy a beautiful park this summer, take the time to remember that this is God’s creation, entrusted to our care and given for our enjoyment. Then recall the words of Psalm 19:1: “The heavens declare the glory of God.”

Sadly, God’s beautiful creation has been tainted by our sin. In many parts of our world it’s clear that people have polluted the land and harmed all kinds of plant and animal life. But no human carelessness, no natural disaster, no scientific breakthrough or theory will ever be able to contradict the truth of Genesis 1:1, which tells us in plain language that it was God himself who created the heavens and the earth.

Wherever you find yourself this summer, remember that this is God’s creation, and be assured that he is moving history toward a new creation.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, help us to praise you for your marvelous creation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Listen to Your Inter Voice

A little bit encouragement for a Sunday. 

Prov 19:27

“Stop listening to instruction, my child, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.”

Do you sometimes question the voice in your head that tells you what to do in certain situations? Do you go ahead and do the opposite anyway because the opposite was more fun? Listen harder. The Holy Spirit can appear at any time to help you through a tough decision.

Now Is the Time to Strengthen Your Faith

How do we stay on course so we keep spiritually strong and aren’t diverted from the path to Heaven that God has for us? 

The time to deal with spiritual danger is before it happens, so be on the alert. You’ve probably heard the old adage “forewarned is forearmed.” This is also true spiritually.

Think about how different King David’s life would have been if he had guarded against the temptations of middle age. Instead his life became a downward spiral of irresponsibility, adultery, murder, and heartache (2 Samuel 11–12). The Bible says, Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life(Proverbs 4:23).

Strengthen your commitment to Christ — now. Don’t wait until the storms of temptation, or sickness, or old age threaten to blow you off-course; now is the time to strengthen your faith.

The stronger our relationship is with Christ, the stronger our defense against the devil’s temptations. Jesus said, Pray that you will not fall into temptation(Luke 22:40).

Learn to commit every situation to God, and trust Him for the outcome. God’s love for you never changes, no matter what problems you face or how unsettled life becomes. Nothing takes Him by surprise, and He can be trusted to do what is best. The Bible says, Trust in the Lord forever (Isaiah 26:4).

Finally, strengthen the relationships God has already given you. Strengthen your relationship with your spouse, your children, your friends, and your fellow believers. When we’re isolated or think we don’t need others, we become much more vulnerable to temptation and compromise. Everyone has temptations, but some people entertain them.

Finally, take your eyes off temptation and put them on Christ — and remember how Jesus handled His temptations. With each one, He responded to Satan by quoting the words of Scripture, It is written.

Rely on the Word of God to strengthen you and keep your feet on the straight path.
