20 Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

² The wrath of a king is like the roaring of a lion; Whoever provokes him to anger sins against his own life.

³ It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.

⁴ The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.

⁵ Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, But a man of understanding will draw it out.

A man's steps are of the Lord. I want His steps to be my steps. I want to live the life He's planned out for me. I want to go where He wants me to go and say what He wants me to say. I want to live in the will of God.

I want the power of God to be so upon me that even my shadows have power. But I can't get there if I'm not willing to walk the walk He gave me. I have to go through the trails and tribulations that come my way. For He said we would have those in this lifetime.

I want to bypass all the steps that lead to my expected end without taking the journey first. I don't want to mess with the small stuff. Give me the big. Give me heaven on earth. I want to see His face.

Yet I forget that it's in the small steps of life where I will find Him the most. It's in my walk with my family, extend family, my friends, and my willness to be a servant. It's the tiniest of steps that will bring me closer to Him and all that I desire.

So you see, I can walk with Him and talk with Him and listen for Him to tell me I am His own and then share in the joy of the knowledge that He leads me and guides me to my heavenly home.

19 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity Than one who is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

² Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, And he sins who hastens with his feet.

³ The foolishness of a man twists his way, And his heart frets against the Lord.

⁴ Wealth makes many friends, But the poor is separated from his friend.

⁵ A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies will not escape.

Laziness casts one into a deep sleep. How true that statement is! I know from experience! When I'm lazy in life, I sleep alot. I get nothing done. It's not like I don't have anything to do, just the opposite in fact. There is tons of things to do around my house but most of the time I don't feel like doing them.

I would rather sleep. In fact, I have to wonder if I haven't slept most of my life away. If I value time like I value my television, I wonder where I'd be today. Certainly not fat and out of shape. A much cleaner house would exsist and I wonder if I would be more happier about life in general.

I can tell you, laziness is my weakness. When I feel I have been too lazy I over compensate by being to busy to enjoy anything that's around me. Some days I'm miserable. I hate being me. I'm a living example of this part of the scripture in action.

The only way things are going to change is if I change and thank God His mercies are new every morning and He expects me to do great things for Him every time I wake up. Maybe some day, as I continue to grow in Christ, my priorities will change and laziness will be the thing of the past as I bask in the glory and the power of the one who breaths on me and tells me I'm His own.

18 A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.

² A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.

³ When the wicked comes, contempt comes also; And with dishonor comes reproach.

⁴ The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook.

⁵ It is not good to show partiality to the wicked, Or to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

⁶ A fool’s lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows.

Life and death is the power of the tongue. So true. Sometimes I find myself spatting away and not even caring about what I'm saying or whom I'm hurting. I just want to be heard myself and I get frustrated when I feel I'm being ignored and my loose lips have full reign over me.

If I'm gong to call on the name of the Lord to be my strong tower in times of trouble, I have to get my tongue in line with the word of God. He doesn't like a loose tongue. It causes unnecessary trouble for everyone who is close to it.

So the first thing that must be conqured in christian walk is the tongue. Not to say you won't loose it a time or two but thank heaven we have a way back in right standing with the God of the universe.

When we are in right standing, calling on His name, is our right and obligation because without Him and His names, we would be nothing; going no where; living in a firey furnance that had no end. Let us learn to bridle our tongue because there is a dying world out there who needs to call upon the name of Jesus to be saved and we might be the only person who can help. Think about that before you speak.

17 Better is a dry morsel with quietness, Than a house full of feasting with strife.

² A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame, And will share an inheritance among the brothers.

A friend loves at all times. Wow, if that was true all the time the world would be in such a better shape than it is right now. I don't know about you, but I haven't always been a friend to those I called friends.

There has been times when they didn't agree with me, I've hit the road or when the times got tough, I split but thank God, I have a friend who will stick by me and He will never forsake me. And if that wasn't enough, I can't get rid of Him because He's with me always even to the end of the world.

Now that is someone I should be following in His foot steps. He's obviously knows more about being a friend than I do. Who is this friend? Jesus. The Savior of the world.

He gave His word so that I may follow in His footsteps so close that I will become just like Him. That is how Rabbi's and their followers do it. The followers follow so close in their Rabbi shoes that one day, they become just like their teachers.

What better way to start than following Jesus' example about being a friend. In the days ahead, people are going to need someone who won't run but will lead them to the cross of salvation and to the open arms of the one who wants to call them His friend.

16 The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

² All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the spirits.

³ Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.

⁴ The Lord has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.

⁵ Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.

Pride goes before destruction. What a statement there. But that verse doesn't end there. It continues to say a haught spirit before a fall. I don't know about you, but I don't want to fall away from God any more than I have to.

If I was going to fall, my desire would be that I fall to my knees in wonder and amazement as I bask in His presence, for in His presence there is peace and joy, and I can find everything there. That's my goal. I fall short of the glory all the time. Yet, I keep pressing on towards the mark of the prize and my prize is Christ.

Being in Him, I have eternal salvation and a knowledge that He's praying and talking to His heavenly Father about me. I have a friend in Him who will never leave me nor forsake me. So why wouldn't I want to fall on my knees?

Because pride is still in play in my life. I want to get rid of it for I don't want the Father to take it from me. For if I don't deal with it, He will and that would lead to unneccessary adjustments in my life. Like communion, He gives us every opportunity to get rid of it ourselves before He steps in.

If I get rid of my sins first, I'm showing my love for Him and all He's done for me. I'm telling the God of this universe, you matter to me and I choose life this day. I choose you and I love you.

No matter if I do it or He does it, pride has no part in my life. Humbility clears the way for the Father to pour out His love on me in ways that goes beyond what I can think or imagine.

A merry heart is like medicine. There is nothing like the joy of the Lord. Believe me, it can hit you at any time during a service or anywhere in fact. People may look at you strange but go ahead and laugh.

I can speak from experience, laughing in the joy of Lord has healed my mind, my heart, my fiances, and everywhere in between. I have sat under a wonder evangelist for almost nine months. He's taught me the value of a good laugh and I want to share the experience with you.

Just let it bubble out your belly, anywhere, anytime. It goes something like this...ha, ha, ha....ho, ho, ho,...and hee, hee, hee. So take your medicine, it's good for the soul.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. As the election draws near, you have to wonder if America can ever recover from her sin. America is no longer a righteousness nation. It's full of things that God hates and we as christians are letting it happen.

What happen to the day when a word of another person meant something? What happen when sex and violence didn't pleg our television sets. When did we as christians decide that being homosexual was okay and God will have to deal with it?

When did we stop teaching our kids right from wrong and showing them how to be a person of noble character instead of it being all about themselves. Kids these days can't do anything for themselves yet expect everything to be given to them on a silver platter and work is something thier parents do.

Indeed, what kind of generation are building here? One, that seems to be going against everything God holds dear. God help us. The price we will pay will be costly. My prayer today is for the righteousness of God to be restored and America will rise up again as a strong nation and be a leader to others so that their sin can be recognized and they can turn back to the God of Abraham, Issaic, and Jacob.
