5 Things To Pray For Your Local School

Although this article is meant for the start of the school year but when I came acrossed this, it was just what I needed to help deal with my child who is in school.

It has breathed life back into my prayer life concerning my prayers for his school. May you find it useful.

God Bless.

5 Things to Pray for Your Local School

by Rachel Jones

The new academic year has just begun. Schools are often at the heart of the community--and so it’s great to take this opportunity to make them the focus of our prayers.

Here are five things to pray, all drawn from Proverbs 1:1-7. You might also find them helpful to pray for your own children as they head into a new term.

1. Thank God for learning

Thank God that he has provided everything we need “for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight” in his word (v 1-2).

While human minds enjoy unravelling the puzzle of how the world around us works, God has not left us guessing on the question of why--he’s told us clearly through Scripture. That’s a big reason for thanksgiving!

Then pray that God would make this school a place where students and teachers...

2. Get future-proofed

Pray that students would learn “prudent behaviour” (v 3).

Thank God for the way he uses education as an instrument of his common grace in restraining the effects of sin on society. Pray that this school would teach children “prudent behaviour”, and equip them to make choices that do good, not harm, to others as they grow up.

3. Love fairness

Pray that students would learn to do “what is right and just and fair” in God’s eyes (v 3).

Sometimes it seems that our culture’s definition of right and wrong is drifting further and further from the Bible’s definition. But pray that children in this school would be taught that what God thinks is right is indeed right; that what God says is just is indeed just; and that what God says is fair is indeed fair.

4. Learn discretion

Ask God to teach “discretion to the young” (v 4).

Kids can be very cruel with their words. So pray that these children would learn to control their tongues and speak words that are kind and patient, not offensive or mean.

5. Fear God

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (v 7).

Pray that students and teachers would come to fear God--and realise that this is far more important than all the knowledge the world offers. Pray for Christian teachers you know, and anyone else who has an opportunity to witness to the gospel--ask that they too would fear God, not humans, and so speak faithfully and courageously of Jesus.

Keep On Fighting

This is a must. No matter what we are going through.

God Bless.

Keep on Fighting

The mind is the battlefield. It is a vital necessity that we line up our thoughts with God's thoughts. This is a process that will take time and study. Don't ever give up, because little by little you are changing. The more you change your mind for the better, the more your life will also change for the better. So keep on fighting!

Today's Scripture:

For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 AMPC

Be Not Forgetful To Entertain Strangers

This is little devotional is thought provoking and is a devotional called to action.

We must learned to leave our worldly eyes behind and become spiritual seer and seeker.

God Bless.

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Inspiration

We should always be mindful of the people we come across in our lives. Whether they share the same beliefs as us, we should never treat someone badly. As Christians, we should allow the love in our hearts to lead us in treating everyone warmly. In times of the Old Testament, people would entertain guests and some of those guests turned out to be angels. Be kind to everyone you come across – angel or not. It’s the best way to express the love of God within us.

Prayer

Dear God, I pray that I will be loving and accommodating to every person I come across – regardless of the differences we may share. Lord, may I reflect your love in the way I treat my brothers and sisters in the Lord, and those who may not know you. When I come across strangers, may my heart be welcoming towards them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Trust God For Change

Amen! It's time.

God Bless

Trust God for Change

Many people have been hurt so much in life that, after so many disappointments, they don’t think they can face that kind of pain again. So, to save themselves from being hurt, they simply refuse to hope or to believe that anything good will ever happen to them. That kind of toxic thinking results in a negative life. But God wants us to trust Him that all things are possible. He wants us to know that no matter what has happened in the past or how long we have been thinking toxic thoughts, we can change. We can have the life that Jesus died to give us.

Don't Add Oil To Fire

Some good insight below. People need kindness and reassurance not some one who get's in your face and has something to say about every little thing you say and do.

Don't be that person to stir the pot but the one who can be counted on.

People are looking for something real not someone who is going to air dirty laundry.

God Bless.

Don’t Add Oil To Fire

Be sensitive to people who are going through hard times. Oftentimes, their aggression is simply a venting of their frustration, and not directed at you. You are called to be a peacemaker – so don’t react but face that emotionally charged situation with kindness and soft words.

Prayer: Lord, may Your gentleness be always in me. Help me to not focus on myself but see others with compassion. Where there is anger and strife, let my thoughts be good and pure so the words that come out from my mouth will help the situation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
