Matthew writes what Jesus says about love for our enemies. Jesus calls us to go above and beyond, to do more than is required, more than is the norm. This term is usually associated with military personnel but here in this passage it was used when He spoke to the masses people like you and I. To live and portray Christ-like character is what we are commissioned to do, we ought to take it up a notch and be different from the rest of the world. Let's remember that we are the light and the salt of the earth, therefore we go above and beyond.
