The Church In Thy House
Some food for thought.
God Bless.
“The church in thy house.”
Is there a Church in this house? Are parents, children, friends, servants, all members of it? or are some still unconverted? Let us pause here and let the question go round—Am I a member of the Church in this house? How would father’s heart leap for joy, and mother’s eyes fill with holy tears if from the eldest to the youngest all were saved! Let us pray for this great mercy until the Lord shall grant it to us. Probably it had been the dearest object of Philemon’s desires to have all his household saved; but it was not at first granted him in its fulness. He had a wicked servant, Onesimus, who, having wronged him, ran away from his service. His master’s prayers followed him, and at last, as God would have it, Onesimus was led to hear Paul preach; his heart was touched, and he returned to Philemon, not only to be a faithful servant, but a brother beloved, adding another member to the Church in Philemon’s house. Is there an unconverted servant or child absent this morning? Make special supplication that such may, on their return to their home, gladden all hearts with good news of what grace has done! Is there one present? Let him partake in the same earnest entreaty.
If there be such a Church in our house, let us order it well, and let all act as in the sight of God. Let us move in the common affairs of life with studied holiness, diligence, kindness, and integrity. More is expected of a Church than of an ordinary household; family worship must, in such a case, be more devout and hearty; internal love must be more warm and unbroken, and external conduct must be more sanctified and Christlike. We need not fear that the smallness of our number will put us out of the list of Churches, for the Holy Spirit has here enrolled a family-church in the inspired book of remembrance. As a Church let us now draw nigh to the great head of the one Church universal, and let us beseech him to give us grace to shine before men to the glory of his name.

Quote Of The Day - Don’t Just Try To Make It
Lord, this is my prayer not only for myself but for anyone who might read this. We need something more than just the norm and we won't be able to get it without you.
Breathe on us Lord and change our days into glorious ones so those around us will see you living through us.
God Bless.
Quote of the Day -Joyce Meyer
“Don’t just try to “make it” through the day. Celebrate the day. Say, “This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it” (see Psalm 118:24).”

To Care For
Sunday, November 22, 2020
Resist Ampathy
Apathy is a lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern. It is the kind of thinking that says, the whole world can go to hell in a handbasket and I wouldn’t care. It is gradually losing hope, losing your fire, and the desire to try. I read the news, see the rejection of Jesus on a global scale, see the strife and hurt believers inflict on one another with no conviction at all, and the destruction all around us. The Lord helps me fight against every thought that tells me to stop caring so much. It is because God cares. He cares about every person—whether they know Him or not.
Years ago, my prayer was, Lord help me to care. Now, my prayer is, Lord help me to never stop caring no matter what. With His Help, we must continue to be the salt of the earth, never losing our saltfulness, never losing our sincere interest in the souls of people and their coming into a true knowledge of Jesus. With His help, we must never lose our enthusiasm about the effectiveness of the gospel of Jesus and how it is the power of God unto salvation. With His help, we must never decrease in concern for the spiritual and physical welfare of every human being. We must be resilient in being the salt and light God created us to be!
Prayer: Father, help me to care. Then, help me never stop caring. Help me to care about what you care for. Let my heart stay interested, enthusiastic and concerned about your Kingdom agenda. I submit to you and I resist the enemy. I resist apathy in all it’s forms. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Something Worth Talking About
Paul instructs Timothy to avoid several things – godless chatter, youthful desires (v. 22), useless arguments (v. 23), and those denying the power of God (3:5). Let’s choose to talk about something worthwhile today.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I repent of so much nonsense I talk about each day. It’s just mindless air. Forgive me. Put new, better, wholesome words in my mouth. May my words be an encouragement and inspiration to others near me. May the words from my mouth be a source of edification. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Time To Sing
Is music part of your praise? Do you love to sing songs about our wonderful Saviour? Do you sing for joy when you think of God’s grace, mercy, love, comfort, provision, and power? Have you found yourself waking up to a particular hymn running through your mind? This psalm was written as a special song for a special day – the Sabbath. May it be your song today.
Prayer: Dear Lord, you’ve put a song in my heart today: a song of thanksgiving and praise. I want to sing about your love and faithfulness, your joy and peace. Don’t let the grey frowns and heavy hearts of others mute my song … but let my song bring a smile and lighten a heart today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Be Filled With The Spirit
Be Filled with the Spirit
Adapted from the resource My Time with God - by Joyce MeyerDid you know we can actually sense the Holy Spirit in us if we pay attention? His presence releases energy, ability, power, and peace like nothing else (see Acts 1:8), and being filled with the Holy Spirit is deeply important to me.
Over the years, I’ve discovered that there are a few things I can do on purpose that help cultivate His presence:
- Think good and godly thoughts because we feed on what we think (see Philippians 4:8).
- Speak positive things that release hope and joy (see Proverbs 18:21).
- Let the Word of God fill my mind. As I meditate on various scriptures, I find the energy of the Holy Spirit being released in my soul (see Ephesians 5:18–19).
- When I think about things I can do for other people to bless or help them, I always sense God’s power and enthusiasm (see Acts 10:38).
If you’ll give these a try, I believe you’ll be amazed at the difference they make in your life.
Prayer Starter: Father, I want to always be filled with Your Spirit, so please give me the grace to form habits that will help me cultivate Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Overcoming the Impossible
Overcoming the Impossible
Adapted from the resource Quiet Times with God - by Joyce MeyerIt doesn’t matter what the situation looks like around you; God is greater than any obstacle you may be facing. Anything that has never been done is impossible until someone does it, so why can’t it be you? Don’t allow your mind to become a hindrance to the things you can accomplish in life. Think big—the way God does.
Today’s Thought:
Believe God is going to do something better in your life. Go ahead and get your hopes up . . . God is leading you to something better than you can imagine.
To read: Romans 12:21; 1 John 5:4
Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for empowering me to do anything and everything I need to do today, and for leading me into greater things. When I’m faced with problems, please help me remember that You’re bigger, and You’re working in the middle of them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Seven Reasons Not To Worry Part 2
More food to chew on.
God Bless.
“And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Matthew 6:27–30)
Matthew 6:25–34 contains at least seven promises designed by Jesus to help us fight the fight for faith and be free from anxiety. Yesterday we saw Promises 1 and 2; today we look at 3 and 4.
Promise #3: “And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” (Matthew 6:27)
This is a promise of sorts — the simple promise of reality that you can discover from experience: Being anxious will simply not do you any good. That’s a promise. This is not the main argument, but sometimes we just have to get tough with ourselves and say, “Soul, this fretting is absolutely useless. It promises nothing. You are not only messing up your own day, but a lot of other people’s as well. Renounce it. Leave it with God. And get on with your work.”
Anxiety accomplishes nothing worthwhile. That’s a promise. Believe it. Act on it.
Promise #4: “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Matthew 6:28–30)
Compared to the flowers of the field you are a much higher priority for God, because you will live forever, and can thus bring him eternal praise as his loved children.
Nevertheless, God has such an overflow of creative energy and care, he lavishes it on flowers that last only a matter of days. So he will certainly take that same energy and creative skill and use it to care for his children who will live forever. The question is: Will we believe this promise, and put away anxiety?

7 Reasons Not To Worry - Part One
Food to chew on!
God Bless.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:25–26)
We are going to spend three days on this part of Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount. In Matthew 6:25–34, Jesus is dealing specifically with anxiety about food and clothing. But, in fact, it relates to all anxiety.
Even in America, with its extensive welfare system, anxiety over finances and housing and food and clothing can be intense. Not to mention Christians who live in situations where much greater poverty threatens life. But Jesus says in verse 30 that our anxiety comes from little faith in our Father’s promise of future grace: “O you of little faith.”
These verses (25–34) contain at least seven promises designed by Jesus to help us fight the good fight against unbelief and be free from anxiety. (Today we look at Promises 1 and 2 — then over the next two days at the rest.)
Promise #1: “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25)
Since your body and your life are vastly more complex and difficult to provide than food and clothing are, and yet God has, in fact, created and provided you with both, then surely he will be able and willing to provide you with food and clothing.
Moreover, no matter what happens, God will raise your body someday and preserve your life and body for his eternal fellowship.
Promise #2: “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26)
If God is willing and able to feed such insignificant creatures as birds who cannot do anything to bring their food into being — as you can by farming — then he will certainly provide what you need, because you are worth a lot more than birds. You, unlike the birds, have the amazing capacity to glorify God by trusting, obeying, and thanking God.

When We Strive
The Only True Freedom
We need freedom in this land! Free from this virus. Free from the masks. Free from the mandates.
We need to understand what freedom is and how it applies to us. May this little devotional give us that insight so true freedom rings throughout this land.
God Bless.
Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31–32)
What is true freedom? Are you free?
Here are four things that need to be true if we are going to be fully free.
If you don’t have the desire to do a thing, you are not fully free to do it. Oh, you may muster the willpower to do what you don’t want to do, but nobody calls that full freedom. It’s not the way we want to live. There is a constraint and pressure on us that we don’t want.
And if you have the desire to do something, but no ability to do it, you are not free to do it.
And if you have the desire and the ability to do something, but no opportunity to do it, you are not free to do it.
And if you have the desire to do something, and the ability to do it, and the opportunity to do it, but it destroys you in the end, you are not fully free — not free indeed — when you do it.
To be fully free, we must have the desire, the ability, and the opportunity to do what will make us happy forever. No regrets. And only Jesus, the Son of God who died and rose for us, can make that possible.
If the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36).
