Developing Good Fruit

DAILY DEVO

Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer.

— Romans 12:12 (AMPC)
Developing Good Fruit During Hard Times
Adapted from the resource Ending Your Day Right - by Joyce Meyer
I've heard patience defined as "a fruit of the Spirit that can only be developed under trial." Really, you cannot develop patience any other way. That means the only way you can develop the fruit of patience is by being around obnoxious people who drive you crazy; waiting in backed-up traffic; waiting in endless grocery store lines; waiting for breakthroughs; waiting for your healing; waiting for people in your life to change; and waiting for yourself to change.

Be patient with yourself! Be patient with your own spiritual growth. Be patient with God if He's not coming through at the time you'd like Him to. Be patient with people; be patient with circumstances. Be patient because in patience you possess your soul. James 1:4 says that the patient man is perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help learn the importance of waiting well because I know that developing the fruit of patience means learning to wait well and I can’t do it without you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Family Connections

This is a thought provoking little devotional.  Be encouraged.

God Bless

Family Connections
Scripture Reading: Luke 3:23-38 Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph. - Luke 3:23

We value stories. They are the primary vehicles for explaining who we are. All good stories include the names of the people involved. In our reading for today, Luke describes Jesus through his human family tree. Luke provides this list of names to show that these people were grafted into the family of God’s ongoing redemptive kingdom work. If we skip over the list of names connected with Jesus, we miss an important part of the story Luke is telling. Jesus is the first name we must take into our lives for our stories to make sense. You and I are in God’s family because of Jesus. Our stories, anchored in Jesus’ story, provide hope for us. Author Donald McCullough in The Consolations of Imperfection shows how we can live into the story of God’s grace in Jesus. He writes, “When my achievements had fallen like sand through open fingers, and when I had no hope for grasping any in the future, I found myself being upheld by grace . . . the eternal love I had believed was freely offered through Jesus Christ was indeed freely offered, with no strings attached, apart from anything I had done or not done. That meant I had value, I had worth . . . everything I needed for rebuilding my life on a far more trustworthy foundation.” What makes your story valuable? Prayer: Father, I keep thinking my story doesn’t matter. But by your grace, Jesus’ story is my story. Help me to tell my good-news story to my friends and loved ones. Amen.

A Daily Decision

Every day decisions matter. May you find encouragement and the will to make good choices.

God Bless.

A Daily Decision

Lifelong beauty requires a new mindset. To change the way we feel about ourselves we have to change the way we think about ourselves. I wish I could tell you that all you have to do is decide once that you are going to live for God and remember His truths and that every day becomes easy. But this is not how it is. We are going to forget that we are beautiful and loved, and even if we remember we won’t always feel that way. The truth is that this is a process. We have to make a daily decision to choose to believe the truth. We have to be intentional and truly long to live differently.

Start by making a daily choice to turn to God. Make the choice to love first; to the place where our first consideration in every decision is to love. For a lot of things, we have already made decisions about them. For example, I have already made the decision that I am going to brush my teeth every morning. I never get up and think, Do I want to brush my teeth today? No, I just get up and do it, no matter what. When we look in God’s word, there are a lot of decisions that are already made for us. But if we make ourselves go through the decision process every time, for things the Bible already tells us what to do, we are a lot less likely to end up on the right path. So as often as possible, we need to make our decisions ahead of time.

You aren’t going to become a different person, or change your mindset, with one big decision. It is going to take a lot of small decisions. You must make the daily choice to spend time with God. Will you always feel like doing it, of course not, but you do it anyways because you know the good that will come from it. Other decisions you might have to make could be finding a like-minded group of friends, always going to church on Sunday, and choosing to forgive. When we spend more time with God we become more like Him and in turn become more beautiful like Him.

Think about it: What daily decisions to you need to start making?

Start Something Good

Amen! So, so good, and encouraging!

God Bless.

Start Something Good

by Joyce Meyer

For there shall the seed produce peace and prosperity; the vine shall yield her fruit and the ground shall give its increase and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit and possess all these things.
—Zechariah 8:12

Start something good in someone’s life today. Sow faith for a healing. Sow hope for a restoration. A sincere compliment can sow confidence in someone who is starving for encouragement. Your forgiveness of an ongoing offense can sow a seed for a miracle breakthrough in that situation.

Pray for someone else’s need, or make a special offering to start something positive in the name of the Lord. Remember, God won’t ask you to sow anything that He doesn’t give you the grace to give.

Enjoy the abundant harvest that is returned to your own life when you sow into someone else’s life.

The Peace Of God

There is nothing like the peace of Christ and how it makes you feel as well as others who may come into contact with you.

Be encouraged and allow the peace of God to overpower you!

God Bless.

The Peace of Christ

Scripture Reading: Colossian 3:12-17 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts . . . as members of one body. . . . And be thankful. - Colossians 3:15

My grandmother was one of the most peaceful and thankful persons I’ve ever met. As a young boy, I often took her cheerful personality for granted. Looking back on her life, though, I cannot help wondering how she managed to escape bitterness and resentment. Her younger years on a farm in Russia were tough. In her teens she endured the war, Nazi occupation, hunger, hard labor, and suffering. Later, after moving to a city, she was injured in a work-related accident and lost the use of her right hand. Even so, she remained cheerful and thankful to the very end. How can this be? There’s an answer in today’s passage. The apostle Paul talks about the Christian calling to peace and thanksgiving. For him, these attitudes did not depend on happy life experiences or special training. Peace and thanksgiving come through Christ alone.

When Christ’s peace rules in our hearts, it changes us and our perspective on the world. It gives us strength to meet our challenges with grace and humility. And no matter what—we are called to be thankful. I’m convinced that my grandmother had the peace of Christ in her heart. Each of us can experience this peace too, if we humble ourselves before God. Do you have this peace? Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to humble ourselves and receive the peace of Christ. Teach us how to reflect your peace in this world with grace and thanksgiving. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

A Confused Mind

This is so good. Indeed, the greatest battle as a Christian we fight is with  mind.

We can't afford to have a confused mind if we want to be a soldier for the Lord. So, be encouraged.

God Bless.

A Confused Mind

by Joyce Meyer

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind. For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord, [for being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides].
—James 1:5–8

My friend Eva received a summons for jury duty in a robbery trial. For two days, twelve citizens listened to the prosecuting attorney as he presented evidence to indicate that the accused had broken into a home and stolen many items. Eva was ready to convict him.

On the third day, the defense attorney presented the other side of the picture. The more Eva listened, the more confused she became. What had seemed very obvious at first now seemed ambiguous and contradictory.

Although the jury did convict the man, Eva said she struggled over making the right decision. Each attorney, when he was speaking, had seemed to be the most convincing.

Many Christians live much the same way day to day. They have become what James calls double-minded. They’re sure of one thing until something else happens, and then they flip-flop to the opposite opinion.

In their double-mindedness, they flit from one opinion to the other. They’re sure they know what to do, and then they switch again. The moment they feel sure they have made the decision they plan to stick with, they begin to wonder if it was the correct one. They continually doubt and question their reasoning.

This kind of behavior is not the same as being open-minded. To be open-minded means we’re willing to hear all sides of an issue—like jurors should be at a trial. But eventually we have to sort through the evidence or the circumstances in life and say, “This is what I’m going to do.”

That sounds good, but too many people have trouble being decisive. “What if I make a mistake?” they ask. “What If I choose the wrong thing?” Those are legitimate ques¬tions, but they are not meant to paralyze God’s people and prevent them from acting. Too often, these are tools that Satan uses to distract and prevent Christians from taking action. I’m an expert on this. For many years, I was that double-minded person James wrote about. I didn’t like being that way. It took so much energy to keep rethinking the same problems. But I was so afraid of making a mistake that I didn’t know how to make good decisions. It took a long time before I realized that the devil had declared war against me, and that my mind was his personal battlefield. At that moment of awareness, I felt totally confused about everything, and I didn’t understand why.

So many of God’s people are living exactly where I was then. They’re reasonable people. That is, they have the ability to figure out causes and relationships and reasons. They sincerely try to understand all the implications of a situation and then find the most sensible or logical solution by putting their reasoning ability to work. Too often, this is where Satan sneaks in and steals the will of God from them. God may speak to them about doing a certain thing, and it may not always seem to be the most sensible course of action. This presents an opportunity for the devil to cause them to question—to become double-minded.

For example, sometimes I sense that God wants me to bless people by giving to them—often an item of jewelry or clothing. On occasion, God wants me to give away a new and fairly expensive dress that I’ve never worn. It doesn’t make sense when I go through the natural reasoning process, but when I open myself to the Spirit of God, I have the assurance that it is the right thing to do.

God’s Spirit is always available to free you from natural reasoning that leaves you confused. Ask of the One who gives wisdom liberally, and He will free you of being indecisive and double-minded.

Dear Father, in the past, I’ve been double-minded and confused, giving Satan an advantage over me. Please forgive me. I ask You now, in faith, to give me the necessary wisdom to overcome all of Satan’s confusion. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The Prophet We Really Need

Huh, interesting reading below. How is God speaking to you? We just might be hearing from Him and we haven't recognized the manner in which He is.

God Bless.

The Prophet We Really Need!

Scripture Reading: Luke 3:7-18 John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers!” - Luke 3:7

John was probably not the kind of guy I’d have hung around with as a young man. He took life too seriously. But he had a very important job: preparing the way for the Savior. It’s highly unusual that someone would work hard only to be second best. But John knew his entire life would revolve around playing second fiddle to his cousin. When people wondered if John might be the Messiah they were waiting for, he didn’t give in to self-deception or ego.

He boldly said, “One who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.” John accepted the fact he was only the opening act for the greatest person in the history of the world. What is the good news in all of this? We need a word from John to point us to the one true Savior we need. Maybe the Lord has been trying to awaken you with a word of rebuke or challenge. Receive it as the continuing work of pruning and shaping in your life for his kingdom purposes. Maybe you are exhausted on the fast track of life. Is it possible the nudge of God has to come another way? The good news of correction doesn’t feel good, but the results are a life readied and fitted for the direction Jesus has always wanted for you.

Prayer: Jesus, I tend to shy away from people who offer correction in my life. Teach me to receive it, learn from it, and grow deeper in love with you. In your name, Amen.

Fear Not

This little devotional is so powerful!

He will not leave us or forsake us.

God Bless.

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)

The reason God wants us not to be afraid concerning money and things is because that would magnify five great things about him.

First, not being afraid shows that we treasure God as our Shepherd. “Fear not, little flock.” We are his flock and he is our Shepherd. And if he is our Shepherd, then Psalm 23 applies: “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want” — that is, I shall not lack anything I really need.

Second, not being afraid shows that we treasure God as our Father. “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom." We are not only his little flock; we are also his children, and he is our Father. He really cares and really knows what you need and will work for you to be sure that you have what you need.

Third, not being afraid shows that we treasure God as King. He can give us the “kingdom” because he is the King. This adds a tremendous element of power to the one who provides for us. “Shepherd” connotes protection and provision. “Father” connotes love and tenderness and authority and provision and guidance. “King” connotes power and sovereignty and wealth.

Fourth, not being afraid shows how free and generous God is. Notice, he gives the kingdom. He doesn’t sell the kingdom or rent the kingdom or lease the kingdom. He is infinitely wealthy and does not need our payments. So God is generous and free with his bounty. And this is what we magnify about him when we are not afraid but trust him with our needs.

Finally, not being afraid shows that we treasure God as happy. It “pleases” him to give you the kingdom. He wants to do this. It makes him glad to do it. Not all of us had fathers like this, who were made happy by giving instead of getting. But that does not matter, because now you can have such a Father, and Shepherd, and King.

So the point of this verse is that we should treasure God as our Shepherd and Father and King who is generous and happy to give us the kingdom of God — to give us heaven, to give us eternal life and joy, and everything we need to get there.

If we treasure God in this way, we will be fearless and God will be worshipped.

Gratitude

Let's be honest, gratitude can be and is the hardest thing to do especially when life isn't going our way so if your in need of encouragement, we'll, this little devotional is for you.

God Bless.

Gratitude

Give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people
- Psalm 105:1

Cultivating a thankful heart is the key to overcoming discouragement, grief, pain, or discontentment. If we develop the habit of counting our blessings then we, like Paul, can learn to be content -- even joyful -- in the darkest of times or most difficult of circumstances.

However, the psalmist here reminds us that the greatest benefit of a grateful heart, and therefore the greatest motivation to a thankful spirit, is not the blessing that it brings to us but the witness it is to others. Anyone can be happy and thankful when everything is going well; but what a testimony it is when God's people are rejoicing among the ruins of their temporal pleasures!

When a child of God is seen searching through the wreckage of shattered dreams, lost loved ones, or debilitating pain for reasons to praise their Lord it is an unparalleled proof of the power of Christ to transform and to satisfy His people. When they publicly call upon His name, making His deeds known among the masses, the gratefulness of God's children redounds to the glory of God's grace.

We are nowhere as able to shine for Christ as in the darkness of our own heartache and loss. In that moment we have the greatest potential to fulfill the greatest purpose of our lives -- to exalt the name of our Lord Jesus.

So, no matter what your current circumstances, give thanks to the Lord, calling on the name of Christ as your joy and sufficiency. Make known His goodness among the masses.

God’s Word Is Out To Bless You

Thank you, Father God for Your Word and how it is a light unto our path as well as a lamp unto our feet.

God Bless.

God’s Word Is Out To Bless You

Isaiah 55:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

In the early church, whenever the Word of God was preached, there were miracles of salvation, healings, and other signs and wonders. The demon-possessed were set free. The paralyzed jumped up and walked. People received their loved ones back from the dead.

I remember saying in one of our church services that there was an anointing for couples, who were told that they could not conceive in the natural, to receive the children they had been believing God for. As the word went forth, many couples received their miracle in that service.

One of the ladies who received was serving that day as an usher. She and her husband had been believing God for a child for a few years. A few months after that service, she realized that she was pregnant — with twins! God’s anointing is always greater than our asking.

I believe with all of my heart that we are truly coming to the place where as the Word of God goes forth, it produces the very effect that the Word promises. So if the Word on healing goes forth, know that healing is already exploding in your body. Your miracle has already happened.

Very often, as you are reading the Word on your own or listening to anointed preaching of the Word, you will feel God’s peace and joy, and feel faith springing up in your heart. As the Word goes forth and you find that you are strengthened to receive your miracle, that is the time to say, “Lord, I receive my healing right now.” That is the time to say, “I receive Your restoration for my marriage.” That is the time to say, “I receive Your breakthrough for my finances.”

You don’t have to wait until a church leader or friend prays for you. Every time your faith is strengthened as you hear the Word, release it through your mouth to receive your miracle, for God’s Word is out to bless you!

Thought For The Day
As the Word of God goes forth, it produces the very effect that the Word promises.

You Haven't Done This Before

Good info! May we learn to use His name and become the Christians we were created to be.

God Bless.

You haven't done this before. Ask using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy. (NLT) -John 16:24

When you meet someone and want to get to know them the first thing you learn is their name. We now have the freedom to approach God directly and call Him, personally, by name. And it's not just an ordinary name, but a powerful one. When we call out Christ's name in faith, we are calling on a force greater than ourselves who provides joy.

You Matter To God

The title says it all. You matter; I matter; we all matter to the One who created us.

Be encouraged and live your best life!

You Matter To God!

John 10:3
he calls his own sheep by name...

Do you sometimes feel like you are just a face in a crowd or a number in a system? You are identified by your social security number. Even when you see the doctor, you are called by your queue number. If you feel depersonalized and dehumanized, that is exactly how the devil wants you to feel — that you do not matter much to anyone, especially to God.

But you do matter to God! He calls you by name. He knows exactly what you are going through and where you are hurting. He sees you and cares for you, just as He cared for the people when He first walked on earth.

My friend, He will do for you what He did for the woman in Samaria. The Bible says that “He needed to go through Samaria” to get from Judea to Galilee. (John 4:4) Now, any Jew of His day would have taken a different and longer route to avoid going through Samaria because they hated the Samaritans, though the way through Samaria would take much less time. But Jesus deliberately took the shorter, avoided route, just so He could stop by Samaria to speak to the woman who had been searching for something in her life to satisfy her.

This woman had had five husbands and the man she was living with was not her husband. Clearly, things had not been going right in her life. She was probably looking for answers and fulfillment, and must have felt ashamed about her failed marriages and current lifestyle.

Yet, in spite of all this, she mattered to Jesus! He needed to go to her to minister to her. And indeed, after she met Jesus, the perfect Man, she was transformed. She was no longer ashamed, and went into the city to tell the people about Him. (John 4:28–29)

Beloved, Jesus wants to meet you wherever you are at in life and minister His grace to you. You certainly matter to Him. He came to give you life and life more abundantly. (John 10:10) You are not just a face in a crowd or a number. No, He knows you by name and has a personal love for you. And in spite of the mess that you might be in, He wants to meet your every need and make your life beautiful!

Thought For The Day
You do matter to God! He knows what you are going through and wants to meet your every need.

Are You Lovable

Love this! I hope you find it encouraging as I did.

God Bless.

Are You Lovable?

by Joyce Meyer

God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.
—Romans 5:8

When you read the title on this page— Are You Lovable?—you may have immediately thought, “No, I’m not!”

I would have probably responded the same way before I came to understand the true nature of God’s love and His reason for loving me.

How can God love you as imperfect as you are? He loves you because He wants to. It pleases Him. God loves you because that is His nature. God is love (see 1 John 4:8). If He were otherwise, He wouldn’t be who He is.

God may not always love everything you do, but He does love you. His love is unconditional—it is based on Him, not you.

Praying God's Word

Great info and wisdom on putting the word of God in action.

God Bless.

Praying God’s Word

Have you ever needed to pray for someone, but the words just wouldn’t come? I was having one of those moments, when the Lord took me into Psalm 1-6, where I found heartfelt prayers written by King David and other writers. Here are prayers from Psalms that you can pray for your loved ones.

For prosperity: Thank you LORD, that ________’s delight is on the law of the LORD, and on his law ________ meditates day and night. ________ is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yield its fruit in season and whose leaf does not whither. Whatever ________ does prospers, in Jesus Name (see Psalm 1:2-3)! For protection: Thank you LORD that you are a shield around ________, O LORD, you bestow glory on __________ and lift up his head, in Jesus Name (see Psalm 3:3)! In the name of Jesus, away from ______, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard his weeping. Thue LORD has heard his cry for mercy; the LORD accepts his prayer. All ______’s enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace (see Psalm 6:8-10). In intercession: LORD, how long will ________ turn your glory into shame? How long will he love delusions and seek false gods? Lord, I pray that _______ will know that you have set him apart for yourself; and I thank you that you, O LORD will hear _______ when he calls to You, in Jesus Name (see Psalm 4:2-3)! Thank you LORD, that in his anger, _______ will not sin; when he is on his bed, he will search his heart and be silent, in Jesus Name (see Psalm 4:4!

Prayer: Lord God, thank you that your Word is powerful! Thank you, that when I don’t know how to pray, you intercede on my behalf. Thank you for taking me to your Word! I believe the word I’ve prayed won’t return void, but will accomplish all that I sent it out to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Lips That Giive Thanks

Amen and may we use our lips for good.

God Bless.

Lips That Give Thanks

Let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise.

This is the twelfth and final “Let us” resolution from the book of Hebrews: “Through Him [Jesus] then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name” (Hebrews 13:15 NASB). To me, this resolution is very appropriate and beautiful because it is something we are instructed to keep on doing. If we continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, all year long, it will make all the difference as to what the year holds for each of us.

This final step of offering up a sacrifice of praise to God relates directly, and in a practical way, to the two previous steps, which were, “Let us show gratitude” and “Let us go forth to Him outside the gate.”

Gratitude naturally leads to praise. There are many passages in the Bible in which thanksgiving is related to praise. One of the most beautiful is Psalm 100:4: “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.” The first step in gaining access to God is thanksgiving; the second step is praise. Thanksgiving leads to praise. It finds expression in praise, and it flows out in praise.

The step just before this one, “Let us go forth to Him outside the camp,” brings us release from the two slaveries of pleasing self and pleasing the world. Again, this step is directly related to offering the sacrifice of praise. You might not see it at first, but there are two hindrances to spontaneous, free-flowing praise in our lives: love of self and love of the world. As long as our affections are centered in ourselves or in the world, we are not really free to praise God. The cross removes these two hindrances and sets us free to praise God.

Thank You, Lord. I give You praise. I proclaim

that I remove all hindrances and that I offer up praise to God—“the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.” I shall continually offer up a sacrifice of praise. Amen.

Cry Out

May our last resort never be to call out to God late in a trial where we are barely hanging on but may it become a habit and an honor to cry out to Him as soon as one starts.

God Bless.

Psalm 138:3 When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me.

Even if we cry out to God as a last resort, or in desperation, it means that we recognize our need for help. Is it the end goal that we should call to God only as a last resort? No, but it is better than the alternative, which is not recognizing that we need God, that we need a Savior. Living for God means looking to Him in all things, every day. It is relying on and believing in His strength as ours runs out, and it is the practice of spending our strength on the things He leads us to. Through this effort we experience His unfailing love working for our good and for His glory.

Courage To Be Youself

Thought provoking and insightful.. Encouragement overload.

God Bless

Courage to Be Yourself

Are you tired of playing games, wearing masks or trying to be someone other than yourself? Wouldn't you like the freedom to just be accepted for who you are, without the pressure to be someone you really don't know how to be? Would you like to learn how to embrace your uniqueness and resist the pull to be like everyone else?

If you're going to overcome insecurities and be the person God's called you to be, you must have the courage to be different. Unhappiness and frustration happen when we reject our uniqueness and try to be like each other.

You're going to have to take a chance on not being like everyone else. You must ask yourself, am I a people pleaser or a God pleaser? It's not worth it to try and please man, because God didn't make you to live for other people's approval.

God knew what He was doing when He made you. You are a unique individual, God created you the way you are! It's time that you dare to accept yourself as different and stop being insecure about who you are.

Prayer Starter: God, I will not fear man. You did not design me to live for the approval of others. Today, I dare to be different. I want to be a God pleaser, living as the unique individual You created me to be.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint. (NLT) -Isaiah 40:31

Come one, come all, everyone who is tired. If you are exhausted and feel heavy like you've been hit by a truck, there is hope. You will once again soar. It is time to look to the Lord and trust Him to rejuvenate you. Give rest to your body and He will give you the endurance you need to continue.

Relying on God

Relying on God is no small feat. But the Bible leaves no doubt, it's a must if we believe in Christ.

So thank heavens for little devotionals like the one below to keep us encouraged no matter what comes our way.

God Bless.

Relying on God

Beauty begins where self-reliance ends. You don’t realize that God is all you need until God is all you have. You will have hard times in this life, as I am sure you have figured out by now. But we don’t have to go through hard times alone. It’s those difficult times in our lives, where nothing is going right, we feel alone and like no one understands what we are going through; it is those times that we have come to our wits end where we realize that God is all we need. Sometimes it takes those difficult times to make us realize that God was always there and that He is the only one who can help or satisfy us.

We are all broken. I know that you have a hidden hurt, because all of us do. Beauty begins when we bring that brokenness to God. You may currently be in a time of mourning even now or maybe you experienced grief many years ago because of a lost marriage or a lost friend, parent, or child, or even a lost dream and you think all that’s left is ashes. But the truth is that God wants to put a crown of beauty in that place, and it’s really a miracle, a mystery, that can only be explained in and through Christ. There’s no other explanation. He exchanges our brokenness for beauty.

God doesn’t think less of us because we have broken hearts. He doesn’t think less of us because we’re weak. It’s in our weaknesses that He is strong. It’s in those very places when we’re broken and hurting that God’s strength shines through. Instead of asking “Why me?” “Why did that bad thing happen?” It should be, “Why did I get any of that goodness?” The good times with a lost loved one, or the relationships that came out of the hardship. Any goodness in our life comes from God. He is a good, good father and He is the reason we are able to look ahead to the next day with hope. He’s the one that makes us beautiful, and if we intentionally focus on the gift instead of the loss it will allow us to see His beauty in so many places that we would have missed.

Think about it: How will you focus on God’s gifts today?

Oh, Taste And See That The Lord Is Good

This is so good and encouraging.

God Bless.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! (Psalm 34:8)

To you who say you have never tasted the glory of God, I say, you have tasted many of its appetizers.

Have you ever looked up? Have you ever been hugged? Have you ever sat in front of a warm fire? Have you ever walked in the woods, sat by a lake, lain in a summer hammock? Have you ever drunk your favorite drink on a hot day or eaten anything good?

Every desire is either a devout or a distorted enticement to the glory of heaven.

You say you haven’t tasted God’s glory. I say, you have tasted the appetizers. Go on to the meal.

You have seen the shadows; look at the substance. You have walked in the warm rays of the day; turn and look at the sun itself. You have heard echoes of God’s glory everywhere; tune your heart to the original music.

The best place to get your heart tuned is at the cross of Jesus Christ. “We have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

If you want the most concentrated display of the glory of God, look at Jesus in the Gospels, and look especially at the cross. This will focus your eyes and tune your heart and waken your taste buds so that you will see and hear and taste the glory of the true God everywhere.

That is what you were made for. I plead with you: don’t throw your life away. God made you to know his glory. Pursue that with all your heart and above all else.

What Is On Your Heart

This little devotional came in a time when I.was wondering if I knew what end was up.

Things were falling apart and I began to wonder if I actually heard from God because the more I thought I was suppose to do something, the worse it got and people around me had no problem in jumping in giving their opinion in the name of love but those people only made things worse and I began to spiral into a deep depression that I am still working to get out of.

So, yeah, the issues of the heart matters and with the help of little devotionals like these can make it much easier to communicate with the One who created you.

God Bless.

What Is On Your Heart?

Hebrews 8:10
I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts…”

Many of us have been taught that we cannot trust our hearts. We quote verses like “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked…” (Jeremiah 17:9), not knowing that Jeremiah was referring to the man who had not received Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

I have had people come to me and say, “Pastor Prince, I don’t know what I should do with my life.”

“What is on your heart?” I asked one of them.

“I would love to work among children.”

“Then work among children!”

“But I am waiting on the Lord to tell me to do that.”

“Well, He has given you the desire, so go and work among children!”

“But the desire comes from my heart. How do I know if it is of God?”

My friend, once you are saved, you have a brand new heart (Ezekiel 36:26), and you can trust the promptings of your heart because God dwells in you and He leads you from within. And don’t worry because His promptings will never contradict His Word. It will lead you to good success.

Often, you find that when you follow your inner promptings, it is actually God who has put those desires in your mind and written them on your heart. I remember years ago when I approached one of our church leaders and told him, “I really think that you are called to be a full-time pastor.” It turned out to be a confirmation of what he already knew on the inside. You see, God was already leading him from within. Today, he is one of our full-time pastors.

If you enjoy something and desire to do it, then go for it! Go with the flow. God Himself says that He will guide us from within. Let’s not doubt Him. And don’t worry about the outcome. Your part is just to follow the flow. God’s part is to work in you both the willingness and the performance of it! (Philippians 2:13)

Beloved, because God has given you a new heart, He will write His desires on it. And as you fulfill these desires, you will bring forth fruit, and not wither and die. Whatever you do will prosper!

Thought For The Day
You can trust the promptings of your heart because God dwells in you, and He leads you from within.
