He Always Comes Through, If You Wait On Him

The Lord promises to make a way for us and this little devotional just goes to show just how much He will move mountains for the people who love Him.

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19

The Lord promises His people that He will always make a way. Just because you don’t see how it will be done, doesn’t mean He can’t and won’t do it for you. You may be in the last hour, running out of time, wondering how and when God is going to come through like He said He would. Sometimes, it can be tough waiting on the Lord. But He always comes through. He always comes through, if you wait on Him. His Word tells us, “The trying of our faith produces patience” (see James 1:3).

Maybe your faith in God is being tried and you are having to trust and depend on Him like never before, but God says, He will make a way out of no way for you. Stay vigilant. Stay persistent. Stay in faith. Look for His way out like you’re looking for lost keys. Saying to yourself, I know it has to be here somewhere! And, it is. Don’t lean to your own understanding, wait on God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (see Hebrews 13:8)! He always comes through, if you wait on Him.

Prayer: Father, you are good and faithful. Even when I am in troubling situations, you know how to make a way out of no way for me. Thank you! Help me learn to trust you more. Help my faith in you to deepen. Even when situations don’t feel good or look good, you are good and you are faithful. Show me your way out and help me not to lean on my own understanding. Be glorified in my life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Invite Jesus Into Your Marriage

A wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. - John 2:1-2, NIV

Jesus accepted the invitation to a wedding! Have you invited Jesus to participate in your marriage? Marriage was His idea. He gave the basic ground rules for it. He knows how it works best. And He longs to be invited to come into yours. Danny and I invited Jesus to come to our wedding from the first moment we were engaged. In fact, inscribed inside each of our wedding bands is a triangle that signified there are three of us in this relationship. God is at the apex, Danny and I at the lower corners. Our commitment was that as we grew closer to God individually, we would also draw closer to each other. If you need a miracle in your marriage, start by inviting Jesus into the relationship. You will be blessed, not only by your increased awareness of His Presence, but also by the knowledge that He is there when unexpected problems and crises arise.

A New Commandment

Although the elections are over for this year, I still feel as if this little devotional is for today.

We, as the Christian, need to lead by example not only during the election and the politics of it all but also in all those days afterward. There is a world watching and waiting for us to rise up, take back our land, move the world by our beliefs and compassion, and make the King of Kings known all the while shouting from the mountain top that He lives!

In a time when politics abound and culture is at war with itself, how do we react? Should we jump in the middle, pick a side, and point fingers? Do we volley attacks at our own brothers and sisters who think differently? The first rule of thumb is to not pass judgment. Then, seriously determine what is the most loving response, one that would inspire others. Couldn't this world use a bit more love?

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven

- Matthew 5:16

Everyone appreciates good works. Many people do good works. Philanthropists, volunteers, and even Hollywood stars are seen doing good works around the globe every day. But "good works" is not what God is interested in. God is supremely concerned for the glory of God.

It is for this reason that Jesus was not satisfied to simply command charitable deeds, random acts of kindness, or the many other good works that all the world hails. Rather, Jesus tells us, "Let your light so [even so, after this manner] shine" that when people see your good works, they will praise -- not you, but -- your Father in heaven.

When you have opportunity to help others, be courteous, show love, give of yourself -- are people encouraged to give you credit, or do you point them to Christ as the source and motivation for any good that you do? It is so easy for our pride, our selfishness, and our people-pleasing nature to take even our best Christian efforts and turn them into an occasion for self-glory.

But, amazingly, Jesus himself never did that. He always pointed to his Father, gave his Father credit, directed the attention to his Father. If the Son of God himself would disdain to receive the acclaim of men for his good works, how much more should our lives be mirrors that reflect the glorious goodness and grace of our God?

Learn and Do

Pray that the LORD your God will show us what to do and where to go . . . Whether we like it or not, we will obey the LORD our God to whom we are sending you with our plea. For if we obey him, everything will turn out well for us.

According to the Scripture above, when the Israelites asked Jeremiah to speak to God on their behalf, they had already decided they were going to learn what to do, and, no matter what it was, they were going to do it.
I wonder what would happen if people today had this same attitude every single time they sat anywhere the Word was being preached. What would your life be like if every time you went to church or listened to a teaching CD or read the Bible you had the mind-set,Whatever I learn today, I’m going to do it!
James 4:17 says if we know what to do and don’t do it, that is sin. The wrong things we commit are sin, but the right things we omit are also sin. Make a decision to be a “doer” of God’s Word, and not merely a “hearer.”

PRAISE BEFORE MY BREAKTHROUGH

Oh, how I love this little devotional. And I hadn't realized just how much I needed a good friendly reminder on how to deal with all the negative going on in my life.

So let the praises of Him be forever on our lips.

PRAISE BEFORE MY BREAKTHROUGH -

ACTS 16:16-40 “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, everyone's bonds were unfastened”.

One of the most valuable lessons we can learn in the Kingdom, is to praise before we see the breakthrough we’re looking for.  What I love about this passage of scripture in Acts 16, is that even though Paul and Silas are arrested and in prison, there seems to be a confidence in who they know God to be. He is the same God whom they have encountered, and who they have seen heal and set people free. So as they sit in there prison cell, chains around their ankles, they begin to pray and sing hymns to God. They’re not thankful and singing praise because they are free, they are singing praise because they are confident in who God is, and that He has a plan! The incredible part of this story isn’t just that their breakthrough came, but when Paul and Silas sang their praises, breakthrough came to the whole prison!! It says when the earthquake shook, ALL the doors were open, and EVERYONE’S bonds were set free!!

When we worship and praise through our hard situations and dark seasons of life, the breakthrough’s that we see become an open door for the people around us to see breakthrough’s in their own lives! And the confidence we gain as we see God move in our lives turns into authority to proclaim and see Him do it again in the lives of others. In the next chapter as Paul and Silas go to the next city, there is a group of men that again try to arrest them, and as they condemn them they say “these men who have turned the world upside down have come here also..” (Acts 17:6). It’s so amazing that as we see breakthrough in our own lives, the reputation and testimony of God makes way into places we never thought imaginable. I pray that as you read this chapter and the story of Paul and Silas, that you would be encouraged to praise in the middle of whatever season you’re in, and whatever you’re going through. Praise really is a doorway to our breakthrough, both for us and for the people around us and in our lives.

He Did It Before, He Will Do It Again

My sister, you’ve seen the LORD come through for you many times over the course of your life. You’ve seen how He has made a way out of no way for you. Don’t pretend like you don’t know what your God can do. If He’s done it before, He is doing it again! Right now! The Word of God promises that He makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Just when you’re fighting not to feel discouraged because there seems to be no way, God causes you to look up and see the way He’s made for you. God’s not going to make a way, He has already made a way, and it’s now up to you to ask Him to open your eyes and help you see the way He has made. Don’t lean to your understanding. Allow God to show you what He wants you to see. He’s not worried, and neither should you.

Prayer: Lord, I know you’ve made a way for me. Open my eyes and help me see your way and grace me to walk in it. In Jesus’ name, Amen. (Read Proverbs 3:5-6)
