The Fruit Of Our Words

I truly believe if we understood what our words do to people I think we truly think twice about what comes out of our mouth.

But we don't. And we speak. We speak not truly knowing what our words are doing. We think our words just go into thin air but in fact, God is keeping a record and I'm sure if I would get my act together, I would get serious about thinking before speaking.

So when I came across this little devotional, I knew for me, it was time to get my tongue under control not only what I say about others, my family, my cirrcumstances, but also what I say about myself not just because God is keeping record but because I love the One who created me and thinks I'm worth giving His son to die for.

God Bless.

The Fruit of Our Words

Let us hold fast our confession.

The entire Bible shows that our words determine our destinies. As we read in Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (NASB). The tongue is either going to produce death in our lives, if we make a wrong confession, or life, if we make a right confession. Whatever we say with our tongues, we are going to eat the resultant fruit. That truth was echoed by the words of Jesus when He said, “And I say to you, that every careless word that men shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned” (Matthew 12:36–37 NASB).

Christians often say silly things that are not honoring to God, and then excuse themselves by saying, “I didn’t really mean it.” But Jesus said, “Every careless word.” It is not an excuse to say that you didn’t really mean something. We must hold fast our confession.

Ultimately, there are only two alternatives in our relationship to Christ and the Scripture: to confess or to deny. Again, Jesus said,

Everyone therefore who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

(Matthew 10:32–33 NASB)

Those are the two alternatives given to us. There is no third alternative. In spiritual things, in the long run, there is no neutrality. Jesus said, “He who is not with Me is against Me” (Matthew 12:30). We either we make the right confession to salvation, or we make the wrong confession, which will not produce salvation.

A Dedicated Life

I am going to be completely honest here and tell you, I really don't have a clue what a dedicated life looks like.
For example, I'm married but if someone would offer me a million dollars to leave my husband, I got to say, I just might do it.
My idea of a dedicated life is never wavering on what you believe in. NEVER! Yet somehow, I find myself going back and forth on a lot of issues in my life.
And I can honestly say I have never thought that having a dedicated life be the highest form of worship to God and all He's done for me.
With that being said, this little devotional has gave me a new insight to what it truly means to have a dedicated life of worship.
God Bless
The apostle Paul has just spent the first eleven chapters of Romans establishing Jesus Christ as the sole basis for our salvation and grace as the means by which every believer lives.
In response to such great mercy, Paul writes that the most logical response is worship. He’s not talking about singing songs; he’s talking about the dedication of our entire beings to God’s service. From this verse, I began a habit of mentally going through a process of offering myself to God. It goes something like this: God, today I dedicate my mind to you. I want to think on things that are good, right, pure, and excellent. I want to take captive any thoughts that aren’t from you.
I want to remember your past faithfulness when I am tempted to doubt. Today, I dedicate my eyes to you. I want to see others the way you see them. I want to view my circumstances through the lens of hope and faith. I want to look at life as one who is confident that you are with me. Today, I dedicate my ears to you. I want to hear your voice above all the others clamoring for my attention. I want to listen to you and to honor others by listening well to them. Today, I dedicate my mouth to you. I want my words to be life-giving. I want to speak honestly and sincerely. I want to think before I speak. I want to let others have the last word. Today, I dedicate my heart to you. I want my heart to be pure and undivided.
I want to master my emotions, not serve them. I want my dreams and desires to please you. Today, I dedicate my hands to you. I want to work hard at whatever I put my hands to. I want to touch others in love and goodwill. I want my hands to be open for whatever you want to give me and willing to release anything you want me to surrender. Today, I dedicate my feet to you. I want to go wherever you send me. I want to walk toward the messes, not run from them. I want to stand firmly upon the truth and not stumble. The most important relationship I have deserves my greatest expression of worship: a dedicated life.

Psalm 139

I absolutely love this little devotional I came across talking about Psalm 139.
I could not have said it any better of how I feel about my life. This little devotional gives me hope for a better future because there is someone who actually gets me.
My wish would be for anyone who feels the way I do, we would crasps and take hold of everything Psalm 139 has to offer us and see it's context in a different light, and then allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us and we would be able to walk out our revelations with confidence in what we know.
For me, that is one of the biggest things wrong with me. I have allowed others in my life to influence me and made me question everything I know. Now it's time to stand up and say no more because there is someone who knows me and loves me for who I am and is rooting for me to become the person He has destined me to be.
God Bless.
Psalm 139 is famous because it explains the personal presence of God.
It shows us how well he knows us. Regardless of our life circumstances, we often feel alone. We feel like people know our names, but not many people really "get us." Even if we’re married or have children, we often feel misunderstood.
It's rare that we feel like someone really understands our hearts. That's the wonderful thing about God. Not only did he make us, he has been with us every moment. He’s acutely aware of every thought, movement, dream, and fear. He "gets us”! This passage reminds us that he travels with us. As you move through this day, he has gone ahead of you.
As you reflect on yesterday, he has followed behind you. But best of all, right now in this moment, he places his hand of gracious blessing on your head. Yes, yours! Our heavenly Father knows you intimately. His Spirit dwells inside you. He gets you, and he is with you.

Your Word Is A Lamp

I am always finding myself in situations that are not my own making. I always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sometimes I think I shouldn't get out of my bed but I know I can't do that and still have a productive life.
A life that is worth living. I must keep the faith and keep running my race no matter what because there are people who truly love me and I love them. So I put one foot in front of the other and dredge on with my every day life knowing I have a hope and a resource I can run to when I find myself in times of trouble.
So when I ran across this little devotional, I was thrilled to know I am on the right path.
This little devotional is just the encourgement I need and I wanted to pass the encouragement on.
God Bless.
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. (NLT) -Psalm 119:105
When you find yourself in sticky situations, it's important to arm yourself with God's word. The way it translates into real life is through memorizing scripture. You will find that the word of God comes to mind when you need it most. Go ahead and prepare yourself by choosing a verse each week to tuck into your heart.

God's Visible Wisdom

Love, love, love, and more love this little devotional.
I have always wanted to know what God looked like. I'm mean seriously, am I the only one?
And of course I have heard the sermon's that Jesus and the Father is one but until this littl   e devotional, it never really clicked for me. I mean wow, right?
Jesus is God and we are to look like Jesus which makes us exactly looking like God. I don't know. But for me, this is breaking news worthy. I now see with my own little eyes how it all is suppose to look and if I don't except who I am, then I can never see God or Jesus in me.
I maybe rambling here but really if you truly look and study and ask for the scales to be taken off your eyes, you just might see it the way I see it.
And if not, that's okay too but hopefully you will find this little devotional worth the read.
God Bless.
God’s Visible Wisdom

I think sometimes we get too caught up in the abstract definition of God.
I think we think lofty, and abstract, and have trouble defining what that looks like when God already told us and showed us. Paul makes it clear that Jesus is God and if you want to know what God is like look to Jesus. He came down and lived among us and we now know what God is like. And to take that further Paul says the church, the family of God, following Jesus, is the manifold wisdom of God. We are the active display of God’s redemptive purposes in the world.
How would your behavior change if you really believed that today? What can you do to show the wisdom of God as the Church today?

It's Not Easy To Feel Alone

If there is one thing I have learned in my life is that it is easier to be alone than with a bunch of people you may or may not have to be fake with.
It's easier to lay in bed under the covers than facing your life or the people in it. However, I know and I'm thankful there is someone who understands me and who will be there through thick and thin. There are people who love me and try there best to be who I need them to be but unfortunately, they can't always so that is why I have learned to lean on the best friend I could ask for, my Savior, Jesus Christ.
And I can so relate to this little devotional and I struggle to not fall into a deep depression but to rise and keep rising knowing I'm a child of God. This maybe a constant struggle for me until Jesus makes HIs return.
God Bless.
It’s easy to feel alone when your pain is unbearable and your future is uncertain.
It’s easy to look around and wonder why your life has to look so different from everyone else’s. When things seem like they’ll never get better, remember that God is fighting for you.
You are precious to HIM, and HE loves you more than you can fathom. Set your eyes on HIM, and he will bring peace and clarity, even when the loneliness is overwhelming and you feel as if your heart will never mend. Trust him and lean on him one minute at a time. He will be with you, even in the fire.

Who Do You Say Jesus Is

I know I say this about a lot of these little devotionals but I absolutely love this one!
I love the ones who makes me want to go deeper in my knowledge in who I am in Christ and what He has done for me and I most certainly feel like this little devotional does just that.
There will never come a time when I think I have it all together and don't need to grow and learn any more.
And I want these two more than anything and I appreciate every word in the following lines below.
God Bless.
Who Do You Say Jesus Is?
Mark 8:29 29
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.”
Do you know that how you see Jesus determines what you receive from Him?
If you see Jesus as your healer, you will receive healing. If you see Jesus as your refuge and fortress, you will receive protection.
The people of Nazareth, Jesus’ hometown, saw Jesus in the natural. They said of Him, “Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us?” (Matthew 13:55–56)
They saw Jesus in the natural. They did not see Him as God in the flesh. As a result, He could not do many mighty works there. (Matthew 13:58)
Today, many people, including some philosophers, see Jesus of Nazareth as a good person who led an exemplary life. They feel that if all of us could live our lives like Him, the world would be a better place. They don’t see Jesus as the bread of God who came from heaven to give life to the world. (John 6:33)
They don’t see Him as the one who came to give them living water, so that they would never thirst again. (John 4:14)
They don’t see Him as the Lamb of God, who took away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)
They don’t receive from Him what they need because they don’t esteem Him rightly. Jesus did not come just to set a                                                      good example for man to follow. He came to be our Redeemer. (Galatians 3:13)
He came to be our righteousness. (1 Corinthians 1:30)
He came to be our shepherd, so that we will not lack anything. (Psalm 23:1)
Jesus asked His disciples once, “But who do you say that I am?” How you answer this question depends on how you see Jesus. And how you see Jesus will determine how and what you receive from Him. So see Him as your God, as everything He claims to be in His Word, and He will do mighty works in your life!
Thought For The Day How you see Jesus determines how and what you receive from Him.

Eat, Pray, Love

I have not read or seen the movie referenced below but that still didn't stop me from find insight from this little devotional.
And I love how the author of the devotional was able to use the movie to gain insight on our daily walks as Christians.
This is something I love and something I can relate to. I need simple in my life with a touch of spiritual growth.
But most of all this motivates me become a better a person and moves me enough to want to share with everyone else.
God Bless.
You may recall a book and movie titled Eat, Pray, Love, which depicts a woman’s journey across the globe.
During this journey, she finds the pleasure of nourishment, the power of prayer, and, finally, inner peace. I was recently seeking clarification about how to handle a difficult conversation.
I felt anxious, so I began praying for God’s peace and clarity. I was drawn to this verse: BE joyful always; PRAY continually; GIVE thanks in all circumstances. Be, Pray, Give . . . an easy way to prioritize our devotional lives and receive the discernment and peace needed as we search for God in all circumstances.
When we have that continual focus, we will be nourished by God and intimately connected to him—and we’ll find inner peace.

Be Like Minded

I love the church my family goes to however I have been in churches like being described below in this little devotional.
If there is one thing I know, the church doesn't make up a building but we are the church and we need to step it up and be it because there is a lost and dying world who needs us to love and not judge.
People are looking for someone to raise up and live a godly life. A life where others take notice and is being pulled to become more like Jesus and I can say right now, we, the church, has a long way to go....but we are getting there and hopefully everyone will see hope in this little devotional.
God Bless.
Grumpy Ron Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 3:8-9 All of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil. . . . - 1 Peter 3:8-9
My friend Ron faithfully attended our small church, but he didn’t like our worship services much. Maybe it was that we met in a rented building. It didn’t feel like, you know, a church . Maybe it was our style—just acoustic guitar and a sermon. And maybe my sermons weren’t so great.
If that was the case, he was too kind to say. All I know is that sometimes Ron came to our gatherings looking a bit rumpled, passive, and a little grumpy. And he didn’t always agree with our programming, like when we hosted a 5K fund-raising run for an AIDS clinic. Also, Ron didn’t like fellow member Dick the navy guy very much. He didn’t hate him, but there was a bit of a personality clash.
My point is that church can sometimes be challenging. This is another sign of sanctification: giving up control. “Value others above yourselves” (Philippians 2:3). “Bear with each other and forgive one another” (Colossians 3:13). These are big themes in the Bible.
Every pastor I know can tell stories about church members who are controlling, bitter, bent on misery—and who make everyone else miserable too. Please don’t be such a person. It says a lot about Ron’s faith that he stayed with us. He served and put up with us, even if at times he was a bit grumpy. The Spirit was at work in him. Is the Spirit working in you?
Prayer: Lord, sometimes I feel grumpy. I need your help today to put a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. In Jesus, Amen.

Lost Sheep

I can honestly say for years, I have felt lost and didn't have anyone to guide me in the right direction. With everything I've gone through in my life, I can easily justify being a goon who doesn't know a thing, who allows everyone around her to control her, and then take their word on who they think I am.

By listening, I've loosen my body, soul, and mind to form a person who is unrecognizable to her one true Shepard. Instead of taking His hand, I've followed the other sheep instead. Oh, the years I've wasted.

But thank God, I have now seen the light and I'm moving and becoming into what He says I am. I have indeed taken the Shepard's hand and allowed Him to carry me on His back as a sheep that has a broken leg and needs to learn who is master truly is.

I can not, and will not allow myself to climb down off of the shoulders from the one who has died for me, who makes intercession for me, and loves me with a love I can't fathom.

On the shoulders of my true Shepard, I will stay.

God Bless.

So my people are wandering like lost sheep; they are attacked because they have no shepherd. (NLT) -Zechariah 10:2

Do you ever feel as though you are just wandering through life? Without a shepherd in our lives, we leave ourselves vulnerable to attack.

Attacks from others and even attacks against ourselves can come our way.

Make room in your life for God to provide purpose and direction.

For I Can Do Everything Through Christ

What a concept! I would have never thought about learning from my successes in life.

I've always focused on my failures and I have had a lot. So, when I came across this little devotional, I must say I was taken aback at the notion it was offering.

It soon became crystal clear after meditating on this devotional, I needed a mind change and quick like.

I have been in need of hope and I have found it. Now, I just need a habit that consist of changing the way I view myself and my life.

I need to throw the list of failures into the sea of forgetfulness and focus on the steps ahead of me and I know now I can do anything I set my mind to because I have the living God living inside me.

God Bless.

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (NLT) -Philippians 4:13

While learning from your failures can be beneficial, have you ever thought about learning from your successes?

If you build upon your past successes, you gain more confidence and knowledge from your previous works. It's more important to take small steps in the right direction.

Remember that God is blessing you with each successful step, and He rewards your patience along the way.

Buying Back

Truth time again. I've never really truly understood the law and what the law was, why we had to have the law, and why was it for me if I wasn't an Israelite.

Well, I guess you now know my little secret. I don't know much but that doesn't mean I don't ask questions, which I do; a lot of them in fact. So throughout my life, I've asked the same questions over and over where the law is concerned.

When I came across this little devotional, the thing that stood out was Jesus. And to be honest, I think I knew the answer all along, I just never had the light bulb moment until now.

Jesus is the reason for the law, He is the law, He is a must have if we are going to get through this crazy life, and He's for me because He is no respecter of people.

Jesus is for everyone. He's is everything we need all bunched up into this crazy thing we call life and without Him, we would have a world full of crazies, just like me, on our hands.

God Bless.

If that promise was enough for salvation, wherefore then serveth the law?

The Israelites, though chosen to be Gods peculiar people, were sinners as well as others. The law was not intended to discover a way of justification, different from that made known by the promise, but to lead men to see their need of the promise, by showing the sinfulness of sin, and to point to Christ, through whom alone they could be pardoned and justified.

The promise was given by God himself the law was given by the ministry of angels, and the hand of a mediator, even Moses. Hence the law could not be designed to set aside the promise. A mediator, as the very term signifies, is a friend that comes between two parties, and is not to act merely with and for one of them.

The great design of the law was, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ, might be given to those that believe that, being convinced of their guilt, and the insufficiency of the law to effect a righteousness for them, they might be persuaded to believe on Christ, and so obtain the benefit of the promise.

And it is not possible that the holy, just, and good law of God, the standard of duty to all, should be contrary to the gospel of Christ. It tends every way to promote it.

A Harvest of Righteousness

Today is my birthday. Today should be the only day I'm allowed to be selfish...after all, I've earned it. Or at least I think I have.

But what do I come across today in my devotional reading? This little devotional.

The words in this little devotional can either condemn me or in my case, give me pause. This is an encouraging devotional about who we need to become in order to live in this thing called life.

So instead of feeling blue about reading this on my birthday, I have choose to see hope in the words found below and allow it to encourage my mind, body, and soul to become more like Him, the Giver of my very existence.

God Bless.

A Harvest of Righteousness

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 9:6-15

He . . . will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. -
2 Corinthians 9:10

What is God doing here? This is a question many parents ask as they struggle to meet financial demands and also find time to train their children.

It’s the question every one of us should be asking in the daily tasks of life. Paul identifies the outcome of God’s growing season for us as “the harvest of [our] righteousness.” “Righteousness” does not mean following rules to try to be good; it indicates that because we are credited with Jesus’ righteousness, we grow to reflect God’s character in all we do.

Then we discover spiritual growth in ourselves as we practice a disciplined life. Paul wrote to encourage the church to give generously to support the poor. Though it’s tempting to hold on to what we have, generosity opens our eyes to the rich blessings of God. Planting requires faith, Paul says. And without faith, there is no planting—and no harvest.

But generosity is only one outcome of the larger task of growth God has for us. Like the harvest of the field, the harvest of righteousness comes only from God. Through the death of Christ, God enables us to be more like Jesus, giving us his righteousness.

When we are clothed with Christ (Romans 13:14), what others see is not our goodness but God’s perfect righteousness. “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” What a beautiful gift that is!

Prayer: Lord, increase our faith to live faithfully each day. May others give thanks when they see your righteousness in us. Amen.

Believe Your Debt Is More Than Paid

I can honestly say I, we me and my husband, have more debt than what we can possibly pay right now.

Although he has a great job, a nice pay, and full benefits, there doesn't seem to be enough to get ahead. We are a pay check to pay check kind of family.

I long to be out of debt but yet, somehow my husband doesn't necessary agree with me because the debt we've occurred in our lifetime has been because of him over extending. I'm not here to blame him, but it is quite frustrating when you pay the bills and you feel like your getting somewhere and out of the blue, he comes home with a toy you just don't need but you would love to have.

So, I'm always looking for hopeful signs God hears my prayers where debt is concerned and I came across this little devotional.

Not only did I get the hope I was looking for but oh, so much more. I now have hope and faith into someone who has paid my debt in full and money isn't the only thing on His mind. My total being is where is focus is on and I need to learn and act on what He paid for and then watch Him work on my behave as well as on my future.

God Bless.

Believe Your Debt Is More Than Paid!

Hebrews 10:22 22let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

I would like you to imagine this scenario: You borrow a huge sum of money from a friend and promise to pay him back in six months’ time. When the time comes, you feel really bad because you cannot repay him as you don’t have the money. A year rolls by without you repaying a cent. Now, you feel extremely guilty.

You try to avoid your friend because you are too embarrassed and ashamed to see him. Let’s say that your best friend hears about your plight. Out of the goodness of his heart, he goes to your creditor and says, “Look, I understand that my best friend owes you money.” “Yes, he owes me US$50,000.” “Here is US$100,000. I am paying you on his behalf.” Your creditor says, “No, no, no! He owes me only US$50,000.”

Your best friend says, “I know. But take the US$100,000 so that you can never say that he still owes you money.” Now, your debt has been paid, in fact, more than paid. But if you don’t know or believe this, that debt will still be on your conscience. You will still be afraid to see your creditor. And you will avoid him because he reminds you of your debt.

My friend, you need to know that Jesus was an overpayment when He offered Himself as your sin offering, because of the quality and worth of the Man Himself. My friend, He overpaid for your sins when He became your sacrifice on the cross.

But if you don’t know or believe this, you will suffer as your unbelief will rob you of assurance, joy and peace. You will still have debt on your conscience. Even though God is not imputing sin to you (Romans 4:8), sin is still on your conscience. And as long as sin is on your conscience, you won’t dare to draw near to Him.

Beloved, the truth is that your sins have been more than paid for. Jesus was an overpayment. So draw near to God today with no sin on your conscience!

Thought For The Day Jesus was an overpayment when He offered Himself as your sin offering, so draw near to God today with no sin on your conscience!

God Is A Giver, Not A Taker

I have to be honest here, somewhere in my life span, I have allowed myself to believe a lie. I have allowed myself to believe that God takes instead of gives.

Maybe it's because of my circumstances. There always seems to be something happening in my life that is negative and I rarely see anything positive. I must admit, I've grown tired. My faith has wavered. My mind has shifted to the other side where negativity seems to shape my life as well as my day.

But when I came across this little devotional, I knew there was hope for me. A new found form of hope became to stir within the depths of my stomach.

I now see, it's okay I see God in a different way and my old way of thinking wasn't who God was at all. I'm in a different mindset now opening the door for God to come in and do great things in my life, and that is exactly what I long for.

God Bless.

God Is A Giver, Not A Taker

Romans 8:32 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Some Christians mistakenly believe that God gives and also takes away. At funerals, we sometimes hear the minister say, “The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” I remember an occasion when I was looking at a baby who was suffering from cancer.

I heard one of his family members comment, “You can’t be sure what God’s will is. He may or may not heal.” What that person meant was that although the Lord had given the parents this baby, He might later take the baby away from them. Job displayed this very same attitude when he received the news that he had lost his property and children. Thinking that God was the source of his problems and not knowing that it was actually Satan who had come against him, he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there.

The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21) Such a statement seems to honor God, but in reality, it reveals an erroneous view of our heavenly Father. As children of God, we know what the Father’s will is for us. He is a giver, not a taker! Jesus said, “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32) It is the devil who is the thief. He comes to steal, kill and destroy. But Jesus came to give us life more abundant. (John 10:10)

Jesus met every need and healed every sickness brought before Him, and at the cross, He gave His own life. Never once did He take anything away from the people who came to Him. And the Bible says that whoever has seen Jesus has seen the Father. (John 14:9) Beloved, your heavenly Father wants you to know today that He is the one who gives you all good things. And if He has already given us heaven’s best — Jesus, “how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things”?

Thought For The Day If our heavenly Father has already given us heaven’s best — Jesus, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
